Wow, who flipped the switch on the Redskin nation? One bad half-season, largely in part due to injuries, and all of a sudden GW is tossed to the wolves. My, how fickle are the faithfuls.

Name me one good team that hasn't had consistency in the coaching department?

I actually think the Job is going to Al Saunders. Why else would Joe Gibbs want to invest the time to install a brand spanking new offense when our offense last year was 10-6. He is an offensive genius, and I personally think he should have succeeded Dick Vermeil in Kansas City.

If it's Gibbs call it wouldn't surprise me all that much. I mean they have worked together in the past (USC) and they're cut from the same cloth (Coryell). But I think it's too early to be thinking it really. I really think Gibbs will be back at least for next year.

I'm guessing you meant is in his plans

If Brunell steps on the field as a Redskin next year they should lock Joe in a padded cell somewhere.

Joe Gibbs' bet that Mark Brunell could return to greatness will be remembered as the No. 1 reason that Gibbs' second stint in the NFL was a failure. We were in trouble the second Gibbs jumped on the plane for Jacksonville to woo the washed-up QB that nobody else wanted.

Well we did get to the playoffs last year. But more importantly, I don't remember reading that Gibbs' second tenure was over already.

I was looking ahead and prognosticating, as I'm sure you could tell. There's no way someone can say one playoff win and a losing record is a success for a three-time Super Bowl champ.

I hope as much as everyone on this board that Gibbs can bring us back to glory. But right now we're 2-5 and hoping against hope that we have a chance to do something this year.

None of us expected Gibbs to be 19-22 two-and-a-half years into his return. It's definitely been more of a failure than a success so far.

Williams sucked as the Buffalo Head Coach.

Bottom line is that some guys are much better cut out to be coordinators than head coaches. Norv Turner anyone?

Up until this season, Williams has earned his keep as a D. Coordinator. But that doesn't mean he should be our next head coach.

I say we start with someone younger whom we can build the team around. I look at what Jim Mora II did down here with the Falcons. Talk about continuity - he'll probably be in Atlanta for years to come. If Williams is named Gibbs' successor, we'd probably need another change in three to four more years.

If you remember people were turning on him early last year when the D was struggling.

We're going to surprise a lot of people after the bye week. Defensively anyway.
