Tony McGee Reaction to 2-5 record

my beef is not with the acquisition, it is with his use...if you are going to trade for someone of his caliber, you have to use him...if betts isn't going to stay around, then why not trade him before the deadline? we have a far too cavalier attitude towards draft picks. say what you want about blasting in hindsight, however, not using him only diminishes his value at season end and highlights our incompetence...i repeat, if he is THAT good (and i think he is), why can't our 2-5 team find a spot for him? I'm willing to bet, that they'd have more carries in San Diego, were he there...(course, they would not be dumb enough to make that deal...)

I thought Tony laid it out well as to why he's not playing.

I think he can be important in the future, but with Portis, Betts and Rock being the special teams guy that he is, I understand why he’s not in there. There are too many running backs without enough room for all of them to fit. If the Skins’ start going to the run more often, we will see Duckett more in jumbo packages.


With everyone healthy and playing well, it's tough to get him in there.

He's just one injury away from being a very key guy.

I really don't think his value will be diminished much by not playing him. Teams know what he is capable of from the Falcons. There would definitely be some strong interest in him if he became available.

I agree with Tony's comments regarding Andre Carter. While Carter is ineffective against the run and has not had enough sacks to justify his monster deal, he's been getting decent pressure on QBs. He's had a couple of sacks and a bunch of QB pressures (e.g. the play that resulted in Leftwich throwing a pick and the play where Manning got lit up). I hope he continues to improve and eventually justifies his contract numbers.

Yeah, I definitely agree there too. While his sack totals may not show it, he's been getting fairly consistent pressure.

yeah i don't get why Betts has been #2 every game with Duckett there. they should've at least rotated games. Betts is more familiar to everybody of course, and he's more like Portis, but he is so extraneous (and NOT Portis) it hurts.

hopefully they're just making him known out there for the inevitable trade.

Betts and portis are too similar, I like betts and he has value, trade him for a draft pick. Cartwright is good enough to fill in for portis if he goes down. Ducket is a perfect compliment to portis, imagine trying to tackle duckett in the 4th quarter, nightmare, that would tire and slow the defense, giving portis an excellent opportunity to break one. Duckett is good for goalline, but i have no complaints about portis in the red zone, he has been terrific this year.

We didn't want him to go to Philly AND if you remember we had some serious concerns about Portis, and given Betts' injury history, at the time it appeared to be a good move. It's easy to blast the move in hindsight, but I don't recall hearing too much of an outcry at the time the move was made.

Who knows, perhaps Betts is gone next year and we keep Duckett as the #2. Either way, one of these guys will be gone next year.

Well the way were are using TJ now, there is no way in hell he resigns with us.

duckett is the newest rb on the team, he's not gonna get playing time over betts or rock, they were both here for all of training camp and know the offense much better then duckett. if duckett is still here next year , he will probably get plenty of playing time.
