SkinEmAll 10-25-2006, 09:56 PM wow, theres some really angry fans here. alot of up chucking about GMs, and a$$ kissing and so on......:blah:
Trust me, I feel all the frustrations that we all have. There are alot of reasons for our record right now. But the one that baffles me the most is the play of our D. A top 10 D with the same offense we have right now, our record very easily could be 5-2.
70Chip 10-25-2006, 11:00 PM Rumor on "Redskins lunch" is the Dan is going to buy out Gregs 1 mil head coach option, and hire Jeff Fisher as the HC. This all hinges on Joe2 wanting to leave. Larry was not endorsing this but, Bram was..........maybe. I personally cannot believe any of it and would view Joe's departure at this time as catastrophic. I would not mind considering Jeff Fisher when Joe does leave, however.
I don't know if this is being discussed elsewhere but this rumor originates over at ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm) They don't generally dish a lot of Redskins dirt, so I wonder where they get this. They're Redskins info is generally limited to injury status linked from WaPo. I think most of their stuff, they get from agents who would not be necesarrily privy to Snyder's plans. They cite I believe an "industry insider". That rules out absolutely no one. They throw a lot of stuff at walls and hope it sticks.
Update: I do not believe that they are the best pro football scoop on the net. That is of course, The Warpath. There's some kind of web voodoo that makes that moniker appear in place of the actual address. I see that they have added a denial and are falling back on their "Nascar" sources who tell them Gibbs' wife wants him to quit.

That thing about NASCAR sources saying that Gibbs' wife is telling him to quit is old. Furthermore, as someone who works with NASCAR every single day and someone who is known by a lot of people in NASCAR and on specific racing teams to be a big Joe Gibbs fan I can tell you that all the sources I have spoken to say that Gibbs' wife saying she wants him to quit is not true.
According to Bram (when pushed by Larry on Redskin lunch show), his info came from an "Industry source". He reiterated, a "reliable industry source", for what it's worth
krathod 10-26-2006, 10:36 AM Good points Gents. I believe Danny Boy had a great opportunity 3 years ago when Ron Wolf was available as GM. He was the architect of the Green Bay Packers when they had Mike Holmgren and several talented players he had picked through the draft.
And here is the kicker- He lives in our backyard in Fairfax County, VA!!
I think the deal killer was the fact that Ron Wolf wanted a percentage of the team, around 1-2%. I'm not a financial genius, but if he can build a Super Bowl contender and eventual Champion evident by his track record- then why the hell not!
BrunellMVP? 10-26-2006, 03:58 PM what we need is to have steady coaching for years in a row along with the addition of a few players...not a wholesale change...williams D has always been a bend but don't break...that is, not dominant. He has never built a DOMINANT D that forced turnovers and destroyed opposing offenses week in, week out. he is supremely overrated, and arrogant. he needs to understand that a good coach maximizes talent...do you think he's doing that?
As for implementing a new scheme? that was dumb as well...saunders may be a genius, but players arent'...therefore they need time to learn the system...
so despite these issues, lets keep the coaches...draft some talents (Trade players???) and for god's sake CAN BRUNELL.
TheMalcolmConnection 10-26-2006, 04:04 PM I would have thought we were pretty dominant in 2004. What really pisses me off about turnovers with this team, is ALL luck. We NEVER get on fumbles, EVER. It's been since Gibbs came back, if a ball is on the ground, the other team gets it.
Just to throw a little more gas on the fire for the conspiracy theorists, X-filers, etc. Fisher would need a job until Joe2 retires. Hmmmmm, GW's D is on it's ass. Is not Jeff a D guy?
BrunellMVP? 10-27-2006, 09:30 AM i hear you on 2004, but i've always though we give up too many yards (if not tds)...a dominant team forces turnovers and wins games, a la Chicago, ravens, etc. Only guys that get balls on the ground are taylor and washington, and taylor gets burned far too often. As for this years team, i have zero faith in the D. We can't cover, therefore we can't blitz, AND we have no pass rush so even marginal QBs can pick us apart.

Nice thought, but if Fisher became available, I would guarantee someone would snatch him up as their next head coach in a matter of minutes. There's no way he would have to take a step down. He would definitely be the hottest head coaching commodity around.
