Our defense has let the opponent score each game on the first drive, and it seems like the first posession of 2nd half, atleast that happened today. why does this happen? coaches not have them ready to play right away? i mean we always have to dig out of some sort of hole and its killing us

"why does this happen?"

Reason #1 -- our defense sucks.

Reason #2 -- stupid ass penalties on special teams, like Frost taking off his helmet to make us kickoff at our own 5 yard line, giving the opponent fabulous field position doesn't help our sucky D.

frost penalty wasnt on opening drive. defense does suck, but they stop them on other drives, just never on opening ones. there has to be another reason. i think its coaching personally

The D is just lost out there. It's amazing to see how far they have fallen.

Just a thought--since Saunders has come in, Williams' D has sucked. Is he down becuase he no longer thinks he's the heir apparent in DC? Has he thrown in the towel? (This is total speculation, but I find the utter collapse of this D mystifying as well. Hence, my conspiracy theory...;) )

So instead of running a high risk, high reward scheme, we now have a scheme that allows us to get picked apart 100% of the time, be it all-pro QB or rookie who we are facing. We have a lot of system-made players on this team, and this team refuses to use it's system.

Gregg Williams didn't fail as the Buffalo HC because he was a defensive mastermind. I don't believe that his system will ever be as good as it was the last two years in Washington.

I'm thinking his days here are numbered to when Gibbs leaves. I believe the next head coach of the Redskins will come from outside the organization, and Saunders will probably stay.

GW stands to make himself a cool $1M if he's not given the head job after Gibbs, and he'll likely get a 2nd shot at a head coaching gig elsewhere if we pass on him. I don't think it's an issue at all.

Look no further than injuries and and poor play for the reasons why the defense has sucked so bad.

i hope not. saunders only cares about CYA/proving that nothing bad could possibly be his fault. he also wants to be a HC, so if gibbs goes and someone comes in from outside, i'd bet he leaves by his choice or that of the new HC.

if Campbell is the man of the future, i hope Saunders stays, at least for Campbell's benefit. too many different coaches in a very short period of time. starting when he was at auburn, its been a different offensive coordinator every year
