Or is his poor play a sign of whats to come for the next 3 years?? SmootSmack 10-19-2006, 11:11 PM Carlos Rogers is probably one of those guys who can have a long, very solid career if the circumstances around him are right. Right now he's not showing many signs of being the game changer you expect from a top 10 pick. EternalEnigma21 10-19-2006, 11:14 PM well last year it looked like he was making strides... From the looks of things now, I'd say he's a number 2. A decent number 2... but he's going to have to make some serious strides before I'd want him to be a number 1 CB. Crat92 10-19-2006, 11:17 PM First he's got to learn proper technique cause his sucks! Second, he needs to learn how to bump and run! HAIL from MCUSA! JGisLordOfTheRings 10-19-2006, 11:43 PM I agree with all points above...Mr. Rogers ( and his neighboorhood...lol, im done sorry, couldnt just let that slide) will have to step up if he wants to be a #1 CB. Another question may be, does he really WANT to be a #1 CB? I know that sounds odd but it seems to me that many players come ino the league to get paid, thats it. Not be a pro bowler, not be the best, but get f-ing paid. Carlos HAS made some big strides since last year but this year, it seems he's slipping back into his old crappy rountine again. I think the game against Indy will be a deciding factor (at least in my mind) as to wether or not he will be a #1 CB in washington in the future, not saying that he has too much competition there.....but thats a whole 'nother story..... Crat92 10-19-2006, 11:51 PM Only the wise 'Skins fan, strong in the ways of the force, could realize the importance of Shawn Springs! Young padwand rogers it seems, not yet ready is he! Hmm?! HAIL from MCUSA! vaoutlaws2006 10-20-2006, 10:05 AM to early to say if you ask me. i see some good things but see some awful things as well. i know one thing he is terrible at...picking off passes. remember the gift hasselbeck threw him in the playoffs last year that he dropped and against the giants this season eli threw him one right in the bread basket and he couldnt hold onto it. MTK 10-20-2006, 10:24 AM Still to early to give up on him. He battled injuries last year and missed a good chunk of camp and the early part of the season. This year NOBODY looks good defensively so it's tough to really gauge his progression. I think right now this struggles are a reflection of the unit as a whole. The guy has the tools. He's fast enough, has good size and he hits. He just needs more game experience and I honestly think he's going to be a quality starting corner for a long time to come. Southpaw 10-20-2006, 10:34 AM I think the problem is, most of us were expecting Champ Bailey, and we got Fred Smoot. And I do think Rogers is as good, or better than Smoot was at this point in his career. The difference is, Smoot had Champ on the other side for the first few seasons of his career. Rogers does have some things he needs to work on, like playing the ball instead of the receiver, and not giving such a large cushion. I do however, believe that he is one of the better tackling corners in the league. It'll just take time for him to develop into a top tier corner. #56fanatic 10-20-2006, 10:38 AM I think its a little early to tell if he is going to be solid. There are few corners who come out of college and are true #1 corners. It takes time for these guys to adjust, both physically and mentally. Champ was one of the few exceptions of being a legit #1 out of college. He would definately be a good #2, but a #1 is hard to say at this point. |
