no...unless he goes back into the zone system that he excellend in during his college days. Perhaps he could put some weight on and play safety. he's not a bad tackler (sort of), he is a bad cover guy.

I think he's going to be an excellent #1 corner, and this year will help him along the way. True, he has been picked on more than usual this year, but on most of those plays he's been right there with the guy. Once he starts looking for the ball when the receivers do, he'll break up more passes.

Technique you can learn. He's got enough size, speed, and talent to be a #1 guy. It's only his 2nd season. And we've had some gawd-awful corners here before, or am I the only one to remember the Martin Mayhew era?

Kinda like it's hard to blame just Brunell for the offensive struggles, you can't pinpoint the poor coverage just on Carlos. Especially with Kenny Wright playing even worse coverage on the other side.

in my redskins madden franchise, rogers has steadily improved and he is rated in the mid 90's ... I'm just saying. ;)

Carlos Rogers is probably one of those guys who can have a long, very solid career if the circumstances around him are right. Right now he's not showing many signs of being the game changer you expect from a top 10 pick.
He has shown the signs but just keeps dropping them. The funny thing is if you read his statments (Redskins.com) on not playing this week he says he likes to play physical at the line scrimmage. I guess 10 yards off the line is physical play.

How can you possibly say that he's been "right there with the guy" are you watching the same games? he gives a 5-8 yard cushion religiously...in no way has he shown an ability to keep up. that said, he does have all the tools, let hope he learns to use them...and catch.

I've seen him with tight coverage quite a few times, his problem is he doesn't get his head turned around to play the ball.

His "cushion" is in all likelihood a result of the scheme and not his choice.

He will be fine. I am not sure that he is the right fit for GW's system, but time will tell. He's probably better suited for the cover 2. I'm hoping this year he will grasp it and turn out to be a great pick for us in the long run.

fair enough, however, do you see springs giving that kind of cushion? perhaps williams knows that rogers can't cover (tightly) which is why his scheme's provide for cushion...

Yes. He has trouble reading the body language of a Rec. It seems like he looks back right as the ball is over his head sometimes. I also think he needs work on his jams. Receivers seem to push him aside all the time, hence he is usually trying to catch up, and that's where the looking back comes in.
