Campbell needs to play right now, or there won't be a future!

By what logic? illdefined 10-17-2006, 02:26 PM By what logic? read the rest of the post. and do you remember what happened to our last "QB of the future"? no.3 QB of the Jets... hooskins 10-17-2006, 02:29 PM stop with the incessant logic. even thinking of questioning JG's judgement is blasphemy. HAHA irish 10-17-2006, 02:40 PM Philip Rivers played one (maybe two, can't remember) game his first two seasons. Having sat out the first two years hasn't hurt him in year three. There are countless other examples of QBs who sat the first couple of years and went on to be successful (Delhomme and Rypien for example. Two who played in Super Bowls) Rivers was sitting behind another young 1st rnd pick (Breese) not a has been. Delhomme was a backup to Favre (HOFer) and went to Carolina so he could play. Rypien was in 1991, thats ancient history in the NFL, things are not done that way anymore. Sure none of these guys were hurt sitting out a few seasons but they were sitting out because they were behind real starters. Campbell is not backing up a superior QB he backing up a has been. SmootSmack 10-17-2006, 02:42 PM read the rest of the post. and do you remember what happened to our last "QB of the future"? no.3 QB of the Jets... Well a.) remember that he inherited Ramsey and b.) not playing now doesn't doom Campbell to a life of failure. I just don't see the logic in the argument that all the great QBs play right away. If not, then they're ruined. hooskins 10-17-2006, 02:45 PM Well a.) remember that he inherited Ramsey and b.) not playing now doesn't doom Campbell to a life of failure. I just don't see the logic in the argument that all the great QBs play right away. If not, then they're ruined. Only thing is, JC might get frustrated, and leave. Shit I would if I were him. illdefined 10-17-2006, 02:48 PM Well a.) remember that he inherited Ramsey and b.) not playing now doesn't doom Campbell to a life of failure. I just don't see the logic in the argument that all the great QBs play right away. If not, then they're ruined. that's true Ramsey was inherited, but Gibbs still called Ramsey "the QB of the future" here after the 2004 season and trained him to be so. just stating the precedent. MTK 10-17-2006, 02:49 PM Campbell didn't really blossom until his senior year. Leinart put up some big time numbers in his 3 years and won a Heisman. I don't think it's really fair to compare the two, or say that just because Leinart is playing well that should somehow mean that Campbell should be playing. Two different players, two different situations, and circumstances. Southpaw 10-17-2006, 02:56 PM Campbell didn't really blossom until his senior year. Neither did Carson Palmer... MTK 10-17-2006, 03:03 PM Neither did Carson Palmer... And he didn't start right away in the NFL either. |
