I agree...this game was about the offensive playcalling and QB execution. Why not just let Portis run right up the a$$ of the worst run D? After the first two great drives, what happened?
I have one question: These little dink and dunk passes for 2 yd losses that Brunell specializes in - are they the plays sent in by Saunders? Or, are they Brunell's checkdowns? If they are the latter, then Brunell needs to be benched. Brunell's throws on the penultimate 3 and out drive in the 4th quarter were inexcusable.

this is the first of me questioning the play calling. we must have run 5-6 screen passes. other than the one long gainer, those screens were going nowhere, fast. but yet saunders kept calling them. i thought portis ran the ball ok. why not more? we made our run last year with portis being the centerpiece. why not try it again?

I haven't had enough quite yet. With this team anything is possible--even a win next week. That would not surprise me (but by no means do I expect it). A loss next week followed by a loss at home versus Dallas post bye week--I'll have enough...

Sometimes, those short screens work great. Moss and Cooley made a lot of hay out of them last year. But, I cannot understand why we run them over and over again. Our offense looks so incredibly predictable. It's run and run and then throw a screen on 3rd and long.
And our defense is just as predictable.....blown coverage, missed tackle, missed tackle, touchdown.

What happened to the running game with portis and betts. If you remember in the games against houston and jacksonville, we ran the ball down their throats. But after that great success it seams like the coaching staff forgot what works. The run always sets up the pass.
Mark needs to step aside for JC, and Joe Gibbs has got to have a come to Jesus meeting with the rest of the team. There were plenty of opportunities were a more mobile QB would have been able to make yards. And other than the pass to Brandon Lloyd, Mark's passing was anything but accurate.
Is't it time for Jason Campbell?
