Gibbs vs. Coughlin

Banks and King debate who will succeed faster, Coughlin or Gibbs. I'm not surprised King picked Coughlin over Gibbs. That toolsack.

I agree!!! King is (and always has been) a complete waste as a reporter. But I do have to agree with one thing he said. Coughlin will have a huge immediate impact on the Giants. He will be head coach when they get the NUMBER ONE PICK in next year's draft. How can anyone be expecting good things from that sorry team in this tough division?

UH-OH - This just in... Bad news for Coughlin: That pick was traded to SAN DIEGO. So he will be getting the #1 pick for the CHARGERS!!! LMAO

The Giants are already whining about Coughlin they haven't even gone to training camp yet. Add in the fact that veteran players were upset with Collins being dumped and it sure sounds like a recipe for success to me.

Just take a look at the atmospheres that surround each team. They could not be more opposite.

Skins: All the players are psyched and ready to get this thing going.
Giants: The players are dreading mini-camps!

You may be reading too much into this... I don't see King bashing Gibbs in this article... he says that he believes that Gibbs will win the Superbowl during the second reign. He's talking about immediate impact.

I don't think King thinks that Gibbs won't have an impact next year... just that Coughlin will have a bigger one. Face it, Fassel lost his team last year...the Gints definitely needed a spanking and Coughlin carries a well-worn strap. I think they probably had better all-around talent... heck they had just been in the Superbowl.

I'm not so sure that the overall improved talent level on the Redskins will have more of an impact than Gibbs' coaching. We may actually have the personnel to have a top 5 running game this year. We have more experience at QB. Granted we made the roster changes to fit JG's plan.

By the way... they were both probably assigned to write different sides of the same story... the subject matter may not have been King's choice.

Each coach is very good. but if you look at the resume of both, who comes out on top, easily? Gibbs. who has a more talented team? Gibbs. This pick should easily be Gibbs.

I don't really know how Coughlin is going to help the Giants. The players were upset with Fassel because he was too much of a hard-ass apparently so they replaced him with another hard-ass?

And it's not like they're bringing in someone with a much better track record. Fassel and Coughlin have very similar career coaching records and Fassel has been to the Super Bowl, not Coughlin

I think Banks nailed this one, the Skins have not lacked talent, they have lacked direction and leadership. Our last coach entered the league needling a coach about his work ethic, and our team never really believed in him. With a head coach who would rather work on his handicap than on a gameplan, it's no wonder it didn't work.

Gibbs is not going to let anyone outwork him, not anyone. Gibbs gets guys to buy into his system, and his system (unlike SS) works in the NFL. Coughlin may make the G-men tougher, but Gibbs will make the Skins tougher, smarter, and more successful.

I disagree. The Redskins started last season with Trung at RB and a rookie at QB. There aren't very many coaches that will win with that combo.

It was SS that sold us on Trung being the answer over Davis, and Ramsey was drafted on his watch. I may dislike Danny, but a coach says go get someone and he does go get them, whatever the cost. Trung and Ramsey, not a rookie last year by the way, those were on SS.
