Marty's alter ego when he's feelin' sexy. chris36 10-10-2006, 12:50 PM OK, I said Mary to imply, that football is a mans game. Lets call it like men!!! RobH4413 10-10-2006, 01:10 PM OK, I said Mary to imply, that football is a mans game. Lets call it like men!!! schottenheimer RobH4413 10-10-2006, 01:19 PM Yes, it was a bad coaching decision, and if Hall makes it, it's still a two-score game in a contest where your offense is struggling anyway. It's not as simple as "TAKE THE POINTS" anymore with John Hall. 42 yards for him is not automatic like it was 5 years ago. You have nothing to show for a productive drive when you miss a field goal too. One yard was all they needed -- one stinking yard. Outside runner or not, Clinton Portis is supposed to get you one yard when you need it. Even if you think Portis isn't the right guy for 4th and 1, then why did they bring in T.J. Duckett? I agree with you now, given the newly discovered status of Hall during the game. He wasn't healthy at that point. Gibbs knew he wasn't healthy... bad call, run on 4th and 1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Duckett was inactive for the game. That's why you can't bring in Duckett. I simply think that it would have been a very tough yard...as opposed to one stinking one. In the meadowlands, we weren't getting anything done, so it wouldn't suprise me if we couldn't muster the strength to get that one extra yard. I'll climb within 2 scores before i'll risk going for it on 4th and 1 in NY every time, especially given the context of this particular game. LBrown43 10-10-2006, 01:33 PM I'll comment. not toughing out that 4th and 1 in a tough divisional away game when you're behind sent a direct message to the offense that they weren't believed in. and they played accordingly after that. huge missed opportunity. and i think Gibbs's first real apparent mistake this season. regardless if the FG was made or not. I was there and they looked like they did not believe in themselves all day. It was not something that was revealed after the field goal attempt. Two straight years of going to Giant's Stadium with my son and the second straight year of extreem disappointment. They were not the team that played the Jaguars and they did not play as if this were a divisional rival. There was no spark. I don't second guess Gibbs. Not because he is Joe Gibbs but because he knows a whole lot more about NFL football than any of us. Mauicruzer 10-10-2006, 01:44 PM i cant doubt Joe Gibbs the man has done so much for the Redskins and NFL. That being said i would of loved to see them pound it with Clinton or TJ get the first down and continue that momentum changing drive. Even so, they gave the ball to Portis on the goal line last week against Jacksonville. I'm not as convinced as everyone else seems to be that Portis is useless in short yardage. illdefined 10-10-2006, 06:23 PM I was there and they looked like they did not believe in themselves all day. Not because he is Joe Gibbs but because he knows a whole lot more about NFL football than any of us. a field goal never caused a turnoaround spark, much less a missed one. in fact, aside from a turnover, there's nothing more deflating especially after the longest sustained drive all game. i know they didn't believe in themselves, making it on 4th and 1 was just the situation to get some confidence and get back into the game. alas, Gibbs/Saunders played like they were already beaten and the team accepted it. mheisig 10-10-2006, 06:59 PM I hate to say it, but Joe is becoming to concervative. In his first go around he was a risk taker. Now he plays not loose. Is that the same as tight? |
