Man it's going to be a long week

One year we're going to have a season like the Dolphins did in 72 and we won't have anything to complain about. There's a huge difference between a win and a loss.

Trust me, there will always be something to complain about.

It'd be pretty quiet around here if there weren't.

You're probably right.

I know.

Losing brings out all the armchair geniuses. That's not meant as a slam towards you, just a general comment.

Joe Gibbs has always been somewhat conservative. Those fake punts and 4th down gambles you speak of were few and far between.

Everyone wants to blame this person and that person for why they lose...plain and simple the redskins lost the line of scrimmage on Sunday on both sides of the ball.

Bingo - bammo. Post of the day, right there. And celts is exactly right -- Gibbs has never been a "oh the hell with it" gambler. Sure, he'll call for a flea-flicker or an option pass in the right situation, but do you ever wonder if he still believes he has Mark Moseley or Chip Lohmiller warming up on the sidelines ready to boot one easily down the middle for 50 yards?

Not only that, I believe it sometimes escapes him that the defense takes over at the spot of the kick, not the original line of scrimmage, on a missed field goal.

Whichever, it speaks volumes about his confidence in the offensive line.

This team with Brunell is starting to remind me of the '85 team with a fast fading Theismann. That team had virtually no downfield passing game until the play after LT ended Theismann's career. That first play was a 40 yard laser from Schroeder to Monk. Brunell may have enough left to steal an occasional win from a good team as he did last week, but he's inconsistent enough to have 100-yard passing games with alarming frequency.

I cringed on 3rd down and 1 when we passed, and cried out "what is he thinking" on 4th and 1 when they went for the FG. Down 16-3 the FG didn't make a difference...not because of the number of scores, but because the Giants hadn't had to punt once the whole game. I "knew" they would get some more points, and we wouldn't get a chance for many more drives. If we had our normal defense I would have been OK with it. In short,
Gibbs is a great coach, but we all make mistakes. This, I feel, was one of his.
