Couple of quick thoughts:
Thanks to the initial poster for the thread. Just wondering though ... I think there might be a rule about posting links to stuff like this. I know we have one at that other place. :)
As to the "it's too long" refrain. I appreciate the feedback, but disagree with the premise. I'm not targeting these columns to the message board short-attention-span-theatre crowd. I'm writing semi-weekly essays for people less concerned with how long it might take them to read a piece than what if anything they might take from it. I have no problem being critiqued for the substance, I've just never understood the motivation behind someone taking the time to make his/her only comment that the piece exceeds some arbitrary length they've alotted to reading it.
With that ... here's to slapping Jacksonville upside the head on Sunday.
wow, just take the constructive critisism, man... I could say the same thing you did in about half the time. There's not an arbitrary length, just that there's a bit of filler in there that actually takes away from your point. I think most everyone said they liked what you were saying, but not everyone has time to read a copy of Chesapeake in between tasks at work!
