Dallas lost to the Jags as did the SB champion Steelers.
Since losing a close game to the perennial favorite Indianopolis Colts, the Jags apparently now aren't getting their due as the best team defense since the 85 Bears.

Bull.

Don't believe the hype. The cowboys had them down 10-0 in the first quarter their fans were starting to Boo them, and then our secondary started coughing up blood. A ticky Tack call on a Witten TD and a no call on a Jag Off pass interference call and the Cowboys not executing = a loss.

Their All world Tackles Stroud and Henderson? Excellent players, but the 22 yd rushing TD the Cowboys scored came when JJ sped through a HUGE hole between the two men and followed the Centre - who got a second level block on the MLB - to the pylon.

You MUST attack the centre of their line with the run. It will keep the LB's honest and force the DT's to guard running lanes rather than pin their ears back and go for #8.

Their vaunted 9ft recievers? Good players. Leftwich had four straight completions to Matt Jones to keep the yard sticks moving and helped them score another TD.

But those WR's are slow, by NFL standards. Your DB's are used to chasing around fast wr's in practice and can definately keep up to them. The question is the well thrown High/Jump ball.
Why not put #21 on Jones.

He can keep up with him and he can whack him when he goes up for those Jump Balls. He also has the mass to keep Jones from getting his shoulder inside the Coverage and shielding the pass with his body.

Will your safetys punish that play? Pick it off? Ours didn't. Not the Jump Ball Play.

I haven't seen the RB Drew-Jones, or Jones -Drew, but I did see Fred Taylor. He is simply not a game changer anymore. The Jags used him against Dallas when the Cowboys had to give their pass defence help.

Don't fear their secondary if your QB has time.
Get the ball to Moss.
Feed Portis.

Wash 17 Jags 13.

I agree with feeding Portis. That would really open up some passing lanes for whoever our qb will be. If Portis cant get going it will be a long day for us.

Portis is gonna have trouble getting going in this one. It's not just the tackles to concern yourselves with. They also have Heyward/Spicer (whichever one didn't get injured) and Marcellus Wilery. Wiley may not be great anymore, but he's still a very good DE. Couple the D line with a sick Middle linebacker (Mike Peterson) and you're in for a long day.

Is the Skins running game good enough to get through them? I'd like to think so, but I'm not positive. One thing I do know is that the receivers will be having issues getting open with Brian Williams, Rashean Mathis, Donovin Darius and Deon Grant patrolling the defensive backfield.

Offensively I like Leftwich, but that's pretty much where it stops. Matt Jones has all the physical tools, but he's still trying to put it all together. Reggie Williams isn't much, but up against a Rumph or Wright, he could happen to have a big day. I don't know that Fred Taylor can get the tough yards, but he may not need to. If they can throw it will open up the run game.

I'm not too optimistic that this one is gonna be a W. And I know that Brunell is gonna have a lot more trouble this week with the Jags than he did with the Texans.

Defensively, I think we will be ok. All our corners are big and tall. Wright played with jacksonville last year so he should know a little about what they like to do. Rumph is 6'1" and matches up with slow WR's really well ;).

finally, a voice of reason and it comes from a cowboys fan. if we would listen to all this hype, the jags are ready to run the table, and win the super bowl. i, for one, am not buying it. like 5rings said, the cowboys had the jags down and out, and left them off the hook. i think the skins running game is superior to the cowboys, and for a good part of that game, the cowboys pretty much did whatever they wanted to. i look for al saunders to be a major factor in the skins victory

Can anyone pull up Potis' video on redskin.com?? My firewall at work won't allow it, and I'm dying to know what he is saying!

Lets not forget that yeah, Matt Jones is long and would be a nice target for ST to pile drive, but the guy runs a sub 4.4-40.. and he was a college QB
