Heading into Jax game

I think this is a huge deciding point for the team. Last season we devoured the Niners and then were completely taken out of the game by the Giants the following week. All this is coming at a time when we need to climb out of the NFC east grave and the AFC is not our strong point. Luckily, Jax can be one of the most flip flop clubs offensively, however, their D is tough up front which is the achilles heel to match for our Oline which seem to not have any strength to move the big bodies around.
I am a little worried about our defense. Which seems to lose containment on man/zone coverages. And our D-Line appears to have been greatly overestimated. And with all those giant Jax recievers we would really need springs for help.
I am pumped for this game though. Alot of people wanna give just a little bit extra credit to Jax b/c they have been through some battles this year but I think we match up pretty well. If our O-Line can hold back those guys who are banged up on their DL, and our secondary can hold off every slant and deep play we could come away with a good win. Our defense really seems to show signs of all the new additions that we had to adapt to and SETTLE(keyword) for b/c we lost our thunder. We are definately not as productive and dangerous as last year, I dont even think 1 corner blitz was called yesterday. It seems as soon as Springs get healthy we can come close to reclaiming our swagger. Prioleau was a blow to be gone at the same time Springs is out, probably why we lost Week 1.
I dunno its good to finally have satisfaction in what they are doing. The team is no where in my gut dependable defensively but the Offense could continue to show promise.

Crowd noise will prove the difference-maker in this game.

Lose some of the flags on Offense and there's no telling how well it will go.

I think we play better when our backs are against the wall. Could be a huge motivator for this game. When we killed the 49ers last year, our backs weren't exactly against the wall at the point.

i think we will run a lot of tosses and reverses like last game to tire out their huge defensive tackles... then hopefully we will be able to do some work on the inside with portis and betts

Duffman, good point about the tosses and reverses. The one thing I think that went under noticed yesterday is all of those sideline to sideline plays, made the Texans cover the whole field. I think they were tired towards the end of the day. Sauders called some short passes for Brunell and let his "playmakers" do the rest. There had to be a lot of YAC (Yards after the Catch) yesterday.

Does anyone know a good place to get that stat? YAC

Jacksonville's defense is really nasty. I love to watch this team (when they aren't playing the skins). They have lots of guys in the secondary that really physically dominate and put the hurt on people. Donovan Darrius is their version of Sean Taylor. Stroud and Henderson upfront are great. Prepare to see a lot of designed rolllouts with little underneath passes like we saw this week, however I'd like to see us go deep from time to time just to keep them on their heels a bit.

I think they are gonna have to look deep downfield. Jax is way physical, cant let them crowd Moss or Portis. But the thing they (Bugel+Al) will have to think about is how do we get the run game working against these guys. They are not gonna shy away from putting pressure on Mark. Even 3 or 4 guys on the line will be a handful as it is. Im hoping we get Mark working on the rollouts and start making him comfortable- I dont know what that is, I just want Brandon to add to his 1 catch of the season and start looking downfield for those awesome TD's.

No, but I'm hoping someone does. I looked around quite a bit this morning, because I think there was probably around 200 YAC yesterday, but I have nothing to prove it.

its only the front seven that really got some talent. we need to work some play action and some longer routes into the game plan. jvilles offense isnt all that. give me some shawn springs this weekend and i think we will win in a close one.

Yea we really need Spring back if we want to start playing D like last year. I knew he was good. But I didn't think our D needed him as much as we do. Or secondary seems to be average at best with out Shawn in there.
