Dockery Kicks it Up a Notch!

Derrick Dockery looked like he made some strides on Sunday. On one play in particular I remember Dockery tossing a d-lineman from Houston to the side like a ragdoll and taking on another block to spring a big run. I remember seeing him doing some more of that in the Houston game as well. I think, for the first time I remember, that he made a big step toward living up to that potential that Buge's is always talking about.

Yea, he looked like a beast during that play - tossing the D-lineman and making a block in the same play. If I had to rate the weakest O-lineman for the skins, I'd say its probably Rabach (even though he had a few great blocks yesterday). This entire line is at its best when we run...just like games 11 through 16 last year.

If by 'kicking it up a notch' you mean he was the only one not called for a holding penalty, then yes.

Bam. Now if the rest of the linemen could do the same...

This thread is kind of ironic, I broke the game down last night and the one standout was Dockery, for what you ask? For getting knocked on his ass constantly, and missing block after block, he is the major problem with our line, fortuantly for us yesterday we really didn't need a big effort from him, if he's in open space guy's just run right around him, that's if he can figure out who to try and hit at all, and even when he does make contact in close he usually gets knocked down, or the defender slides around him immediatly. Dockery play's the guard postion as if he weighed 200lbs and was slow. I was going to start a thread today called the weekest link but this thread will do. People I believe are trying to find a way to legitamize Dockery because of his tremendous size, but size is meaningless if you can't or don't know how to use it, we should have had a backup plan for this guy he's just not a football player.

Jansen also has to get it together he's being pushed all over the place the first 3 games.

I think Dockery should have been tested for steroids or PCP in that HOuston game. Every play he was plowing holes and swinging bodies around like he was the incredible Hulk.

Yes, there was a time when Jansen was the one guy you could always count on when the rest of the offense was in a funk.

Not anymore.

Yesterday was just such an odd day. I felt so confident in pointing out the mistakes made weeks 1-2 and what??... Mark and Dockery wanna just correct them in a week. Whats that about?

I agree that Dockery has put up some subpar performances in the past and that was actually a pretty accurate description of some of the things that have happened in the past.

On Sunday night though I did not see Dockery out of position often and I even thought that when he got out into space he was superb. I remember on one pull he absolutely leveled one of Houston's linebackers and then threw a block against a DB to help create a nice running lane up the sideline.

You said he is the 'weakest link' and it's possible that he might be, but if he is then I would say that is a good problem to have because he was playing his behind off this past Sunday.

Dockery doesn't know how to use leverage he was being stood up constantly by a smaller tackle, I broke it down in slow mo and isloated him reason being it's very difficult to gauge unless it's blatent with a guard, unlike a tackle who's is pretty obvious when he gets beat, a guard is kind of hidden from the obvious, if you have tivo break down the first half [which is as far as I went] and you will see we might as well have 4 guy's on the line, Dockery will make an occasional block but you get the feeling it happens by accident rather than by design.

best game of dockery's career... i don't know what happened to him, but he wasn't trying to shoestring tackle people or anything this game. I'd love to see him play like that every game.

samuels was a bit off today though. he stands around and let's people run by him too much :/

hopefully dock can keep it up against jacksonville.
