First of all, if Peyton nor Donovan could 'dump' the ball 22 straight times, I doubt any of us here could. Secondly, you're deceived if you think the Texans equate to a college team.

Honestly, I believe you were being a tad bit sarcastic but if you can't see anything positive about yesterday's performance I don't know what to tell you.
Who is "you"?

He hit Patten on a nice rope for 25.

My back is still hurting from watching that play...

That was one of the few downfield passes that he had. If this was a conscious decision not to work it downfield, then fine - my trust is in the coaches. That said, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to test the deep routes (or even the 15-20 yard routes) at least a few times against a soft D.

However, I remember at least one play where the commentators conjectured that he wasn't even looking at the deep route and quickly checked down to a short option underneath. We are going to need to spread the Jags' D next week. I'm sure the coaches will put together the best gameplan that they can - I just hope it's not a matter of Brunell skipping the deep routes because he lacks confidence.

Does it worry anyone else that he still can't go deep? Of his 24 completions, he hit 3 for longer than 20 yards, and one of those 3 was a shuffle pass. Granted, 22 in a row is great, and the W is key, but I can't help but feel any other decent defense will be able to put pressure on Brunell, and snuff out the short stuff.

It is a concern except for those who choose to stay in denial. It' not about bashing, or praising Brunell but we know the time is going to come when it's going to become imperative that you make plays down the field. Good defenses will take away much of what we were doing yesterday, espically once they see this is all you're going to do. The game plan the week before against Dallas was pretty much the same but they took away the dink and dunk because their defense is much better than Houston. The bottom line is, I'm not convinced we can beat a good defence on a consistant basis with that kind of offense. We can enjoy this one for now (I'll take it) but the ball has to go down the field, and Brunell has to prove he can do it or the birds will be out again real soon.

yea the perfect time would have been those 2nd and short...we had a bunch of plays like that 2nd and 1.....thats when u take a shot...if u do not connect just ram it for the first...Why was Duckett inactive??

they needed Duckett's space on the active roster for an extra TE.

yeah it was good to establish the run even further on 2nd and 1, but man at least one of those would've made a nice play action pass to Moss in the endzone..

Brunell executed with flawless perfection during the first 3 quarters of the game. Don't undershoot Brunell, he played a great game.

I do happen to agree with Brunell in that this was more of an offensive record. Our receivers were making plays left and right and this was a direct result of our receiving corps upgrade.

The game of football is all about momentum. This is a good start for some momentum the team was lacking in the first two games. Anytime you can put up 495 yds of offense in the NFL is a good day and I don't care who you are playing. Let's hope with the talent on this team, the return of Springs they can build on this momentum and get on a roll.

Why Are't We Getting Jc Any Reps? In The Fourth Quarter Of Ths Game Brunell Mostly Just Handed The Ball Off. Wouldn't This Have Been A Good Time To Put Jc In. Sooner Or Later We Need To Start Developing A Long Term Franchise Quaterback To Be Successful In This League. (ie. Eagles/pats/colts.......) We Can't Just Keep Bringing In Vets With 2-3 Years Left.
