I've always referred to it as a shovel pass, never heard of shuffle until today.

Sounds like it's time for a poll...winner takes all! Chief X_Phackter 09-25-2006, 01:13 PM Portis adds a dimension to this offense that makes it much more difficult to defend so he gets my vote for his 100+yard performance. Brunell did a fantastic job too, and the O-line held it's own albeit for a pretty short passing game, not to mention all the penalties. With Portis healthy and the receivers coming into their own, if the O-line can hold their blocks and play more disciplined, this offense will improve more and more each week. How do you defend against a good running game, the dink and dunks that could go 30+ yards, and then you know it's just a matter of time before we start taking shots down the field when teams start to put 7-8 in the box. I think it's Coach Janky Spanky time this Thursday. FRPLG 09-25-2006, 01:31 PM SHUFFLE pass doesn't even make sense. Chief X_Phackter 09-25-2006, 01:46 PM SHUFFLE pass doesn't even make sense. You are correct: shovel pass One entry found for shovel pass. Main Entry: shovel pass Function: noun : a short underhand pass (as in football) 70Chip 09-25-2006, 02:26 PM On the topic of the shovel pass. I remember they ran that play in Goalline against the Giants at Fedex in 2004 with Ramsey at QB. Later when Goerge Micheal or someone was congratulating Gibbs he said, "That's a Coach Breaux play." Granted, Saunders must have a shovel pass in his vaunted playbook as well. At 700 pages what could he not have? That and the use of alot of bunch-type formations yesterday may be an indication that Saunders is open to input from the other coaches. Bunch formations are considered Gibbs' great contribution to the passing portion of this style offense. It makes the reads and progressions alot easier because the QB doesn't have to see the whole field. Of course I could be grasping at straws. Saunders may be an absolute autocrat for all I know. illdefined 09-25-2006, 02:31 PM isn't the WR screen a big holdover from last year's Gibbs coordinated offense? 70Chip 09-25-2006, 02:36 PM isn't the WR screen a big holdover from last year's Gibbs coordinated offense? Yes, and before Gibbs, Spurrier. There weren't a whole lot of WR screens being run "up here" before Spurrier revived the concept for Rod Gardner. Now they're as common as dirt. |
