Cowboys | Ware fined by league
Sat, 23 Sep 2006 08:23:41 -0700
Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (http://www.kffl.com/player/11506/nfl) has been fined $5,000 by the league for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Washington Redskins (http://www.kffl.com/team/37/nfl) QB Mark Brunell (http://www.kffl.com/player/920/nfl) Week 2. Ware attempted to ease up and was flagged for roughing the passer. He is planning to appeal the fine.

I am all for protecting the QB, but I really did not think that hit warranted a fine.

I can't believe that I am going to agree with soemthing that a cowboy fan says, but I didn't think it was too bad either. Ware better watch out or he's going to be on the same list that Sean Taylor is on somewhere in the ref's back pocket.

I'm surprised Taylor wasn't fined for one of his bogus penalties from week 1.

He shouldn't have been fined for that hit....horrible call by the league office.

The NFL is losing it's feel for what is and isn't an infraction when it comes to QB's.

They aren't kickers - who are quite vulnerable - who are only in the game for very short periods of time.

Why don't they just put Orange jerseys on all QB's and be done with it...

Why don't we start fining guys for tackling anyone who has the ball?

Well, the hit deserved a flag, but IMO Ware had no intent at all for helmet to helmet. Accidents happen. So what made the NFL fine him, but not "what's his name" for his hit on Trent Green?

I don't like the fine and I really don't like the hair trigger the refs seem to have for any legit play Taylor makes.

That said, football at all levels really needs to make some very significant investments into helmet technology.

The players are getting bigger, faster, stronger at all levels and are consequently hitting harder. The ability of the head to take those hits is not keeping pace.
