I agree with eveyone needing to turn it around, Matty. But I think his lack luster performance has magnified all the other issues going on with the offense.
Who is available next year (qb)?12thMan 09-22-2006, 01:17 PM I agree with eveyone needing to turn it around, Matty. SmootSmack 09-22-2006, 01:21 PM It's the inevitable fate of the QB position to be in the spotlight, good or bad. I mean look at it this way, the offensive line is playing awful right now and everyone is saying Brunell totally sucks and it's pretty much all on him. Super Bowl XXII the offense line played amazingly, but it's all about look how great Doug Williams played, look how great he is. Well sure Brunell hasn't played well and Williams played great, but doesn't paint the whole picture freddyg12 09-22-2006, 01:35 PM This is a good thread, cause as someone mentioned, Brunell may retire after this year. JC will be our guy, but we'll need more vet backup than Collins. What about B. Volek? If he can keep his mouth shut, he's a good backup. Not sure if he's signed to a long deal in SD. 12thMan 09-22-2006, 02:13 PM Don't get me wrong, Brunell's play does not absolve the rest of the offense. Because I think they could playing better too. Mark's performance...even when he has decent protection, we're not moving the chains. That's all I'm saying. All things being equal, I can't think of any plays, so far, that Brunell was the difference maker. Okay, do you guys remember last year when Brunell got pressured and there were runninging lanes, more often than not he scrambled to get clutch first downs. Against the Vikings this year in a similiar situation, he almost ran out of gas before he got to the sideline. MTK 09-22-2006, 02:59 PM I agree with eveyone needing to turn it around, Matty. But I think his lack luster performance has magnified all the other issues going on with the offense. My opinion is it's the other way around. jsarno 09-22-2006, 04:03 PM This thread wasnt started to jump the gun, its not that bad of a question in my opinion. Thank about it guys, two years ago Brunell was HORRIBLE, and we all wanted Ramsey to start next year, but he looked horrible when he was but it too. So we went from having the "QB of the future" in Ramsey, to nothing. Go back even farther, when Ramsey was the "QB of the future" and we went out and got Brunell. We're Redskins fans...weird shit happens. All of us know Gibbs prefers to win with vetern QBs. So if he cuts Brunell, theres a 99% chance he bring in a vetern to "compete with Jason, but Jason is our guy", just like he said with Ramsey. So, this thread assumes Brunell sucks, and then Campbell comes in and doesnt look like an NFL QB....So my guess is we do not draft a QB, even if we have the first pick. We would get a vet, and draft dline or CB. Matt Shaub is an option but I think he'll be overhyped and expensive (not that Synder cares about either of those things). I think Kurt Warner will probably be aviable because they wont pay him, they'll want to hand off the reigns to Leinert. Charlie Batch will probably be available. Brian Griese will be available, and istn a bad option. He could start right now but they want their young guy in there. Jake Plummer will probably be available... Either Losman or Holcome will be available... Right on. Couldn't have said it better myself. Seeing those options doesn't exactly make me want to get another qb. I guess we really are stuck with brunell and campbell for better or worse. MTK 09-22-2006, 04:08 PM Campbell is up to a 91 in my Madden franchise so don't worry, he's going to be great. If it happens in Madden it's gotta be true. ;) jsarno 09-22-2006, 04:18 PM So if Brunell decides to kick it up a notch...will you guys apologize to him?? No. 1- Not for what he's getting paid. 2- He is in charge of one damn talented team, super bowl caliber if you ask me, so if he does turn it around, he needs to apologize to us for his poor performance, he's a seasoned vet. 3- No matter what, even if he does turn it around, he has one good year left in that aging body at best. I just hope he is tutoring Campbell. Campbell will likely be our best hope for a super bowl. TheMalcolmConnection 09-22-2006, 04:22 PM You know what's sorry? Rex Grossman's sorry excuse for manicured eyebrows. He needs to go to a REAL salon and have that done, he's got the money. TrustinGibbs 09-22-2006, 04:26 PM I dont know...Notre Dame QB's have a pretty great track record in the NFL. |
