12thMan 09-22-2006, 11:46 AM SkinsnCanes, to bring another quarterback into the equation at this point isn't only pre-mature, but senseless for a couple of reasons.
1. Jason Campbell, for all intent and purposes, hasn't played yet. We've seen spurts here and there, but not enough to be conclusive in my opinion. The jury is still out, and until he has beyond a shadow of a doubt, and I mean there is no question that he's not capable of starting in the NFL, this franchise will probably live and die with that decision. Literally!
2. The franchise has so much locked up in this kid, and why have his confidence shaken in the least bit by bringing in a new body. Probably a journey man at that.
When we brought in Brunell, it was for the most part thought of as, tops, a three to four year deal I think. He was never brought here to be the quarterback of the future, so to speak.

I know, and I agree. I think Campbell needs to play and we need to see what he has. I never said anything about our current QB situtation, I was just saying that whoever started this thread did so ASSUMING that Campbell and Brunell both play and suck, and wanted to know who would be available. Obviously I hope Burnell steps it up, retires, and then Campbell steps in and is the best QB the league has ever seen.
Monkeydad 09-22-2006, 11:53 AM We not only need to let Campbell play, but we need to let him play a full season AND begin another one to chart the progress from his "rookie" year of actually playing and his second year. If he still looks like he did in the first game, like Ramsey...try someone else.
Even Alex Smith looks better in his second year, although he still stinks.
DaveyFoSho 09-22-2006, 11:57 AM I like campbell!!! he has shown great arm strength and alot of untapped talent!! give him a few starts let him feel his way around and i gurantee u he is our QB for years to come!
DaveyFoSho 09-22-2006, 11:58 AM And campbell does not suck!! not even a little bit...he has great potential and alllot of talent....why are we even having this conversation...real issues are at hand

Agreed.
Quite frankly, I hope Brunell just retires this year
DaveyFoSho 09-22-2006, 12:04 PM So if Brunell decides to kick it up a notch...will you guys apologize to him??
12thMan 09-22-2006, 12:06 PM I'll be the first in line. Trust me, I won't the least bit upset if Brunell turns his game around.

Did they last year after his bad 2004 season?
I will admit I wanted to dump him in 2004, but he WAS battling injuries and wasn't himself. He proved that last season.
How about if the whole offense turns it around along with Brunell? That's what needs to happen, improvement across the board.
