JankySpanky80 09-18-2006, 07:08 PM Did anyone see the press conference today. If so what did he talk about. SmootSmack 09-18-2006, 08:59 PM -Hard working group of guys, we play physical -Inconsistent, penalties hurt us a lot -Off a play here a play there, a person here a person there -Not converting 3rd downs, limiting our opportunities to continue drives and create more plays -Mark got knocked around a lot -Made a bad decision in the red area (just one?) -Avg. 4.7 yards per rush, but not happy with the running game (helped by a reverse) -Concerned about pass protection, 6 sacks allowed -In general, felt they did a good job on kickoffs. Hall handled the kickoffs (I didn't even notice) -Don't get a better play than what Rock made, don't know if anybody means more to the football team than Rock Cartwright. Example of a real Redskin (interesting comment) -A bunch of guys made great plays on that return-Demetrick, Kedrick, Chris Cooley -Need more guys around the ball on kickoff coverage though -Will be turning in one of the special teams penalties for review -Four 3 and outs defensively in second half, happy with the physicality and hustle of the defense -Problem was penalties. Seven penalties. -Need to be more effective in pass protection and rushing the football -Clinton wants to play every week, and he's a joker so he'll try to joke around with the media. But Gibbs and Clinton speak every day and there's no miscommunication between the two -No word on whether he'll play against Houston -Springs is day-to-day -Mark has been like the offense in general, inconsistent -You can probably find a play to show MB threw it away too quick, but it's not a theme -Would he approach preseason next year the same way he approached it this year? Probably not -To be quite truthful, bitterly disappointed they went 0-4 in the preseason -Ultimate responsibility for what is going on is Gibbs' (the sacrificial scapegoat) skinsguy 09-18-2006, 09:03 PM Standard Gibbs presser. Not going to talk bad about his team; going to put the blame on his shoulders. Gibbs is the ultimate motivator, I just hope he can do it this week! mheisig 09-18-2006, 09:47 PM -Problem was penalties. Seven penalties. Was he watching a different game than I was last night? ArtMonkDrillz 09-18-2006, 09:51 PM I watched it for about 3 minutes and had to turn it off out of frustration. I know Gibbs wants everyone to chill out and all, but when he was talking about how we converted a bunch of nice first downs late in the game (as in, during garbage time) I had to shut it down. I hate to say it, but those end of the game stats are something that Spurrier would be proud of. FRPLG 09-18-2006, 09:57 PM He's goosing the team like he did last year when we were 5-6. These guys have responded to positive reinforcement before so that's where he is living. I like that he directly addressed a few things that have been sorta floating around out there(Portis/Gibbs communication, pass protection) SmootSmack 09-18-2006, 10:09 PM Was he watching a different game than I was last night? I think he was talking exclusively about defensive penalties there railcon56 09-19-2006, 01:11 AM Nothing but fuckin excuses...these people are getting paid too much for fuckin crybaby excuses gibbs is starting to sound like Norvo did. Daseal 09-19-2006, 01:49 AM Gibbs should release the same press conference every week. He keeps his cards close to his vest and won't say anything that's not expected. He takes the blame for a loss / bad plays, he gives praise for a win / good plays to players. Always says at least one person "Fought their guts out" etc. It's his thing, it's worked in the past. That Guy 09-19-2006, 03:34 AM nothing is more worthless than a joe gibbs press conference. |
