Mabye it was an optical illusion, but he seemed faster than I've ever seen him before. If he has that kind of burst on a consistent level... then I'd be more than happy keeping him back there.
It wasnt an optical illusion. He ran a 4.42s 40 yard dash at the combine.

I know it's obvious... but its not happening.
We're not letting out players make plays and thats aggravating. We're stopped before a play can develop, they don't even have a chance. Lets do what works... and that's plow through w/ the backs we have, and don't give up on them. Brunell didn't have a hot route to go to... he rolled into instead of away from blitzes. It's very fixable.
The whole team looks unorchestrated, and that's all on Saunders. IMO Joe Gibbs would be pounding the ball to provide some relief to the O-line (who have proven themselves as elite run blockers). And don't give me that we don't have Portis talk... He is an amazing back... but Duckett, Sellers, and Betts are well above average. Looks like he's coming back next week anyways.
The defense is ok. Rumph is starting to play to his potential, and looks like a good back-up in the works. Rodgers isn't solid, but he is close. With Springs healthy I'm confident we'll return to classic Greg Williams form.

Can anyone PINPOINT exactly where the breakdown seems to come from in the OL? With the exception of Rabach these are the same players who under Steve Spurrier proved they were unable to block for Patrick Ramsey when we lined up in three wide formations. A great deal of our success last year came with max protection, coupled with the running of portis. The question now becomes, is it the players? Madden mentioned in his commentary monday night, it could be we don't have the right players (espically up front) to do what we want to accomplish? What are your thoughts?

it seemed like when we went to minimum protection, the cowboys blitzed. why not use the wr screen to hold the dline alittle. last year that was one of our most successful plays

I'm reminded of one series in the game monday night we went with three wide with Duckett in the backfield, and he was eaten by a Dallas defender. I can't remember whether it was the DE or LB but Brunell wound up being sacked on the play. Someone seems to constantly get beat up front, and it apears we miss Portis's blocking as well because there dosen't seem to be anyone picking up the blitzers or anyone who may break free from the OL.
