Is it mullet-fied, or did he cut it short?

He looks like he's about to leave practice and skip off to Sunday school, just like he did his rookie year. I'm hoping this will spark him and he'll start living up to all our hype from this offseason.

I really like Cooley so don't take this as hate. I mentioned this in another thread, but Cooley's blocking in the Texans game was terrible. I was at the game in good seats and at one point a corner back out muscled him. He was a liability in the running game.
I know he is very popular player and my comments about Cooley is going to piss some off. However, if we are going to be critical of Archuleta, Brunnell and others that have been hammered by TWP members, you have to be evenhanded and fair.
I was particularly watching Cooley on offense and Archuleta on defense and Cooley looked terrible in the Texans game, in particular his blocking. I am not sure if he is hurt, but he was blocking like a wimp the entire game. I did not see him make a single good block. Out of the two Cooley and Archuleta, Archuleta played better last week.

Brunell is checking down too quickly, and with Cooley running deeper routes, Brunell is checking down to Betts and Sellers.

Bingo!

Cooley has never had a problem focusing before, now all of a sudden Saunders has him running deeper routes, so Brunell who's scared to hold the ball more than 2 seconds has Cooley taking the blame for not focusing? It just keeps getting better. I am curious what are the signs that he's not focused? Should he use telecanetic powers to force Brunell to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball downfield? Why someone would question Cooley is beyond me, he's a proven gamer, unlike Brunell our little china doll.

Brunell should be scared to hold the ball more than two seconds. That's all the time NFL defenses give you these days. IMO, he holds it too long.

The haircut is a start for Cooley, now he needs to find religion. And I'm not talking about some hippy dippy love peace kind of religion. I'm talking about the good old-time sort that judges and condems people.

Deeper routes?

All I've seen him doing so far is blocking.

As for Brunell, some would argue that he's a bit more proven than Cooley if you compared their careers, in fact it's not even a fair comparison. But oh well, keep on hating.

Who threw Cooley the ball all last year to make him so proven?

When Cooley does go down field, he's not within Brunell's comfort zone of 3 yards around him. He's not in checkdown vision...deeper may not be the right word, but it's further than most of Brunell's passes thus far.

And keep drinking that Brunell coolaid.

Pay attention, he was thrown the ball last year because he ran shorter routes, which is why he's not seeing it this year, that is what some of us are saying. If he continued to run little 5 yard hitches he would probably be leading the league in catches right now. I don't know if you paid attention on sunday but Brunell completed 22 passes in a row and probably had about 75 yards before YAC. Saunders called a masterful game, he was able to get by with a passing game that was nothing more than an extention of a handoff.
