CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 09-18-2006, 07:37 AM i hate to say i told you so. last year for brunell was a fluke. no arm strength,no legs looking to throw the ball away or go down. its a damn shame that gibbs is going to throw awaythe season for loyality to brunell when ramsey wasnt this bad playing for coach gibbs.
kingerock 09-18-2006, 08:18 AM 4 more weeks. If we get Portis back next week, we have Houston, Jacksonville, NY Giants and Tennesee, a couple big games and a couple teams we should beat and the opportunity to get some momentum going.
Wow, what happened to the 2006 skins I have been seeing in my head the whole off-season? Hopefully, not gone. Just MIA. Replacing Brunell is not the answer at this point. the season is young, and while serious, our season is not done. We have fundamental problems that have to be fixed before it can be Brunell's fault. We have David Carr syndrom. The other teams D is spending way to much time chasing our QB. We need a runing game. Where the hell did our O-line go? Important safety tip: This is bad!!!! 300 yards in penalties does not a win make!!!!!! Can anyone name a team that changed QB's in the season that actually improved their situation? I personally do not know. Oh yea, Note to Springs-We MISS YOU
Brunnell is making the O-line look worse than it is on passing plays. There is no speed or urgency to the way he takes the snap, drops back and fires the ball to a receiver. If you go back and look at the first quarter, MB had plenty of protection and couldn't get the ball to anyone. This is a COMBINATION of having lost his courage/passion/whatever AND having a new 700 page playbook. This dog is not only lame, but he ain't learning any new tricks.
Whether we bench him now comes down to what's best for JC's development. The WIN NOW AT ALL COSTS mentality of this franchise has been what's killed us in the Snyder era . . . no methodical development of draft picks, coaching staff, etc . . . so if throwing JC out there is going to shellshock the lad, don't do it. On the other hand, if he's our guy for the future, playing is the only way to get better.
That Guy 09-18-2006, 08:39 AM campbell is accurate. yeah he'll make mistakes, but at this point, can you honestly see brunell leading the skins to a superbowl??
I can't, and if we want a run before the window closes, we need to see if we've got a guy to get us there. He'll never get experience if you keep saying we can't put him because he doesn't have experience. and next year brunell will just be older and an even bigger injury risk. he hasn't made it through an entire season healthy in the last four or five years.
If he doesn't show something by halftime against one of the VERY worst teams in the league, it's time to see what we've got in campbell, cause cause we won't get to the postseason like this (and i'm not assuming campbell is going to come in and play like a pro bowler). I just want to see something to prove that we're better than the lions :/.

Well technically the Patriots in 2001 started 0-2 and switched from Bledsoe to Brady shortly thereafter. The rest, as they say, is history.
Nice post though, I agree with what you say
That Guy 09-18-2006, 08:42 AM its not just him, but i think he is a primary cause, and i'm not really sure saunders was really needed that badly.
dmek25 09-18-2006, 08:47 AM if brunell isnt grasping this offense, it makes absolutely no sense to stick j campbell as the starter. learning the ins and outs of the nfl is complicated enough without trying to learn a new offense for like the 6th year in a row
dmek25 09-18-2006, 08:49 AM we seriously need to try and throw the ball alittle over 20 yards when its not third and long. our playcalling was horrible. are they trying to protect brunells arm strength? only the coaches know that answer
LBrown43 09-18-2006, 08:53 AM I think putting in Campbell against the Texans would be the best game to do it. They are one of the weaker opponents we are going to face this year. I don't know how many more games I can get my hopes up so high, just to be dashed. We looked worse than the last playoff game against Seattle. I really did not think it could get worse than that. I am aware of the new offense and all that but we bring in 2 new recievers and we are only able to get the ball to them 2 times? Lloyd has 2 games under his belt and 1 catch. I think we start Campbell next game and see what happens. Could he be any worse?
