Joe Gibbs will defend Mark Brunell until his last breath, but I value his worth on who else around the league would want him. If Brunell was released by the Skins today or tomorrow, who would pick him up, even in a back-up role? As bad as the raiders need a QB I doubt they would take Brunell.

I have been a Brunell supporter in the past, but he is flat out not looking downfield! You can't tell me that Moss and Randel El as well as Lloyd are not getting open!
That being said, Brunell has had ample opportunity to learn this system, if he doesn't get it together vs Houston, we should sit Brunell and let Campbell learn for the rest of the season!
Take that a step farther...to avoid another Patrick Ramsey fiasco, if Campbell does not look decent by season's end, we need to get a GOOD free agent QB in the offseason.

Are you talking about that block where duckett kept the guy outside, but then brunell was too afraid to step up in the pocket, so brunell tried to run around duckett and the guy he was blocking sacked him? That was not ducketts fault. Brunell would have been fine it he just stepped up in the pocket.
If you have hbo watch inside the nfl and watch the highlights from our game and you will see. He ran right through Duckett. Duckett needed to turn him outside and it looks like duckett just gave up and down went brunnell.
how'd you guys like Ladell and T.J.s inspiring pass protection? Portis has us spoiled, i'm telling you.
I agree.
CP's value as a blocker is vastly underappreciated. Madden said he thinks CP and Edge are the two best blocking RBs in the league and I have to agree.
Brunells 9-20 press conference is pretty funny...
He's a classy guy and some reporters are total a-holes.
Is that the one where they asked him how's it feel to be 36 and washed up?
Even though it was in jest you can understand MB being a bit grumpy. All the attention he's getting is ridiculous. Is he playing poorly? Yes. Is the entire offense playing poorly right now as well? Yes. So why is there no screams for the 10 other guys to be benched right now?

Brunell has gone somewhere between 150-200 pass attempts since his last throwing TD (this includes preseason)
You can't include practice games! :pffff:

I just stumbled on a post I did back in April regarding team needs.
http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/12170-redskins-team-needs-3.html#post174780
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This team's number one need will not be addressed and could not be addressed via the draft: Improvement at QB.
It COULD all work out (and I pray it does). But the overwhelming probabilities are that the QB position is the landmine that blows up the season.
This position is very thin and brittle.
My point is not "I told you so". That stuff is pure BS. My point is quite simply that the current issues at QB were highly predictable.
The Skins have gone into the season with a 35 year old starter, a career backup with diminished skills and a guy who has never taken an NFL snap in anger.
The excuse that the protection, running and receivers are why the QB is not getting the job done are a bit hollow. I think it is the other way around.

I say give Randel El a shot at QB!
