Monkeydad 09-18-2006, 03:22 PM Cheers Buster, cheers No need to get drunk over the loss. :) RiggoRules 09-18-2006, 03:32 PM Ladell sucked as a runner, and as a blocker. wiped out our ground dimension then we had to pass, couldn't stop a blitzer. T.J. sucked too, but i'll give him slack time because he's new. and at least when HE runs straight smack into somebody like Ladell does, he may actually get some positive yardage. Betts has performed really badly while subbing for Portis. TJ's pass protection was not at all good (this was not the case in ATL, so it is probably just a system thing), but his running was solid. He really should have been in on the 3rd and one where Betts got stoned. One of the demotions should be Betts. TJ should be the backup. He probably will be once he has more than a week of playing under his belt. Betts has a LOT more practice under this "complicated" system I keep hearing about. Ladell certainly didn't help himself stay ahead of Duckett last night, but we now have to wonder if he'll get his kick returning job back from Rock. TheBigD 09-18-2006, 03:41 PM Pull Brunell already? NO! Let's give EVERYONE, including Brunell a chance to get comfortable with the new Saunders playbook first. Remember last year...we started out playing badly and were one win away from the NFC championship, with Brunell leading the way. Yes, we lost but the game wasn't THAT ugly. I thought we played well on defense for the first 3 quarters. We're missing 2 VERY KEY PLAYERS including one of the best RBs in the NFL and we were still in the game for most of the game. It hurts to lose to the Cowboys, but I saw improvements in many areas over last week. We lost 6 out of 8 games at one point last season but we stepped up when it mattered. We've only improved our roster over the offseason and we'll get better every week. If the playbook is really 700 pages, I can completely understand the leaning curve. I think it is time to bench him (hear me out I am not trash talking or anything) Brunell, if you can remember, has not been good since his injury last year. The Redskins offense has been depending on Portis to win the game all by himself. Eversince his game in Tampa he has not done anything to help the Skins. He's more of a burden, Portis could be better off with out him. Teams are not respecing the pass, so they bring as many men as they can to the line and let Brunell win the game with his arm and it is not happening. He hasn't thrown a TD yet this year. The other reason why the Skins went so far last year and are kept in games till the end is their great defense, but they can only do so much. I mean last night it wasn't untill late in the game that the Cowboys took them out of the game. they were down by a TD right till the end of the 3rd qurater. I watched Campbell at Auburn and thought he was good enough to win games, the sooner they get him started they better. Yes he will lose a game or two but that is how they learn. As a Cowboys fan, I would love to see Romo in now. Gibbs and Parcells are in love with their QBs who are proven to be way past their prime. ArtMonkDrillz 09-18-2006, 03:42 PM nevermind again TheMalcolmConnection 09-18-2006, 03:45 PM We need a playmaker at that position. There are plenty of QBs NOT named Brunell that are out there who would NOT lose us games, like Collins and many others we could have gotten. Campbell could be that playmaker. dall-assblows 09-18-2006, 03:47 PM campbell campbell campbell! Daseal 09-18-2006, 03:52 PM I've never been a fan of Brunell, but when he played well last year I gave him his props. But you know what, career over. He ran into pressure way too many times. Just trying to run out and running right into pressure that probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere near him. Brunell was, as usual, missing wide open throws, just like the preseason. Campbell has sat, he's been dedicated to learning this offense, and if we're going to have poor play from the QB position, I want one that's learning from his mistakes rather than regressing and just soaking up some money to end his career. Brunell didn't get great protection, but a lot of that pressure he brought on himself. Pump faking, not making good reads, running out of the pocket or throwing way before he had real pressure. Some plays he didn't have a chance, but you'll get that sometimes. The INT to R. Will. was just an awful ball. It's time for the Campbell era. I'm sorry Joe Gibbs -- this pickup failed, time to admit it and move on. RiggoRules 09-18-2006, 03:53 PM I'm wondering.... There has been quite a bit of assumption on this board that Gibbs will go down with the Brunell ship. I'm questioning if that is really accurate. He also has a pretty big investment and commitment in JC. He's been watching the same games as everyone else and is clearly most unhappy. Watching his presser after the game last night, he seemed to take great pains to not even mention the QB position. For him, that is a pretty big vote of no confidence. JDESKIN 09-18-2006, 03:57 PM Brunell needs to go. He is not going to win us a Superbowl we will be lucky to be 8-8 with him under center. Campbell is and has been here long enough to get started. I truely believe our RUN game and Passing game will be better off with Campbell as our QB. CAMPBELL!!! |
