Yeah basically the whole game our wrs were open and brunell could not give them the ball. I believe that he just can't see over the big o-line we have and that is why he always moves out of the pocket. At least Campbell is tall enough to see over the o-line. I believe we need to put Collins in the game I believe he will throw the ball downfield rather an interception or not but he will try.

I have TiVo, so I really break down the plays. Did anyone else notice that we had WRs open, but Brunnell either could not or would not make the throw?

Great, you have TiVo. You still can't see the entire play and what the WRs are doing or what coverages are going on.

But I can see that someone is wide open crossing the middle of the field. Really Matt, this blind faith in Brunnell must stop if you are to maintain any credibility whatsoever.

Give him a few more weeks.

Between the bad playcalling, no effective rushing game, no offensive line, and a defense that isn't getting the ball to the offense, it's been pretty tough all around. (But I would say that he turned INTO the sack a few times.)

I felt that Dallas was able to tee off on him a lot so I checked the play-by-play to see what happened. I excluded the last 2 drives where they got a lot of free yards.

On 1st and 10
8 pass plays 5/7 for 47 yards, 1 sack. Ended up getting a first down on 6 of 8 series.
8 rushes. first downs on 2 of 8 series.

So it's clear it's better to pass on 1st down.
In the second half, we had 5 first downs prior to the last 2 drives. Our breakdown on first down was
4 rushes, 1 pass. What's with that?

As far as for when Dallas could tee off, I analyzed 2nd and 8+ and 3rd and 6+ (combined). Brunell's stats were
2/10 with 1 pick and 2 sacks.
Pretty bad. How much was Brunell? I can't say.
But I think an indicator is the screen passes. EVERY time they've run a screen pass some defender has been in the receiver's face. So I think Brunell gets some more time. I can't lay it all on him. Maybe he's also frustrated by the play calling, and that can really wear the QB down. From what I understand, he has less leeway to change things at the line of scrimmage than last year.

He did, remember the pick?
My dad is 48 years old and is getting ACL/MCL surgery next week but I still think he could have picked that ball off (staying in bounds may have been a problem though). He put so much air under it that it was like a punt. I guess that's why he's so afraid to try to throw it deep.

This has nothing to do with Brunell or my perceived blind faith.

I've said he's not playing well, but I'll also continue to say the entire offense is not playing well.

We're not running the ball well, we're not blocking well, generally speaking we're just not executing well across the board.

The endless Brunell bashing doesn't hold much water to me. It's a very ignorant view to think that replacing the QB right now is going to solve anything.

To clarify about my blind faith, my faith lies with Gibbs and co. Players are interchangeable, I could really care less who is playing QB.

I prefer to look at the big picture. QB play is often reflective of the entire offensive unit. But I guess you already know that since you have TiVo.

When he throws into coverage, he REALLY throws into coverage.

you seriously think you can win a superbowl with under 80 yards passing? i'd love some recent examples. and if you seriously think we've got a real shot with brunell this year to win it all, you're kidding yourself.

Agreed. 80 passing yards in a game means the defense is probably on the field for 40 minutes, which would tire out even the best defense in the league. Being 0 for 12 on third down for the first 56 minutes of the game doesn't help either. One thing I noticed is Gibbs actually looked irritated when Brunell was skipping balls to open receivers, even when he wasn't pressured. Still, I bet Brunell plays next week. They'll probably eak by the Texans, and that'll be the excuse to start Brunell the following week.

Actually, the reference was regarding Arm strength, rather than yardage in a game. It was meant to characterize that you don't need Elway arm strength to be successful in the NFL. Additionally, I made reference to winning (9-8) or losing (8-9) seasons. Finally, I don't think I am Kidding myself about anything. Putting in JC with our protection is insanity. It represents a total collapse of any kind of order, or philosophy with regard to the Redskins, and their program. In addition, it is a total admission that this season is lost. I am not willing, with 12% of our games played to throw in the towel

Damn Matt don't take it out on me that the Skins suck. The only reason I even mentioned the TiVo was because its handy in backing up plays frame by frame. You can disagree without being an ass Matt.
