Im not defending or bashing Brunell..... but, I think eventually this offense will need to be able to score alot of points on a regular basis and i'm not sure he can do that.

Why not? We have great depth at WR this year, plus a strong running game (as soon as Portis is 100% healthy.) It doesn't have to be all up to Brunell to score alot of points.

The point of the thread is to see how many people would agree that having a losing season would benefit us down the road if we started our "future" quarterback. The same thing the Giants did with Eli.

Just because the Giants rushed Eli into the starting position with some success doesn't mean we should do it with Jason, and it also doesn't mean we would have the same success. Gibbs is about winning now along with building a future. For Pete's sake, how many more years are you skins fans willing to throw away for the sake of the future? Don't you want to have the guys out on the field now that will give the Redskins the best chance at winning? Don't you think Gibbs, Saunders, Williams, and the rest of the coaching stuff know what they're doing?

I just want to win, period. I want to stop looking for ways to fix us. We have a great team, great players and great coaches. We just need to WIN!!

i totally agree with saunders picking a new qb next year, we wont have the pick for a quinn or a booty but i would not be surprised if we go after a young talented starter now, like david carr they cant afford another screw up in the draft so i think they pick quinn

Well they just signed Carr to a new extension when Kubiak took over in Houston.

And for anyone to have a shot at Quinn in the next draft, they better have a worse record than Oakland.

i think alot of skins fans are just getting accustomed to losing. i remember along time ago when mediocre play was not acceptable. brunells play the last 3 years have not been acceptable by anyones standards. i dont think putting campbell in now would be a bad idea he could possibly not do any worse. brunell does not get us in the end zone period we may drive down 4 times but 1 td is unacceptable.

you remember "along time ago"??

mediocre play?

get "us" in the endzone?

don't take this as a personal attack..but I am not so sure that anything that
you've posted here is or isn't based on your own personal disdain for Mark??..

there were several factors that went into MNF's letdown..and you haven't mentioned a single one of them..so cueing into the qb situation is not addressing a thing about the breakdown in blocking.. the soft play from the linebackers and safeties..
whatever Saunders was trying to do..or the simple fact that they were out-coached on the field..
This team allowed themselves to get in the position where stupid penalties and mental errors..affected the outcome..and caused the loss..

Only 19 pts given up by any defense..should win 80% of the games in this league..

I think until you can look around in an un-biased....manner..and avoid the quick-fix mentality

you will only see what you want to see..

I cant believe all of this. 1 game and the sky is falling. Brunnell is our best option at quarterback right now. He had a great year last year. The only way campbell starts is by injury. I cant see tossing the season for campbells development. At least not in week 2. Now with that being said should we be i dont know 2-8 at some point maybe but i really doubt thats going to happen.

I don't think so either. I believe Saunders is going to bring in another qb or draft one in this upcoming draft. Booty or Quinn is my best someone who can pick up this offense quickly and that can make all the throws. I would not be surprise if he tries to trade for Green next season.

Brady Quinn and ND is getting their ass handed to them by Michigan right now 34-14 at halftime.
I guess under the reasoning of some on this thread, Brady Quinn and ND's season is over and they have no future because they lost one game and ND needs to get a new QB.

Absolutely right that Brunell is the problem and does nothing to help the team win.

He only got one little first down by running the ball. And of course he got lucky that he got just beyond the first down stripe. He should have been able to score for us by quarterback keepers. I mean, I can't imagine any other reason why can't they get in the end zone.

And he's not a great passer. I mean compare:
Brunell had 17 completions on 28 attempts
Bledsoe had 19 completions on 33 attempts.
Of course 3 were to the wrong team.

And, of course, the reason that Portis is out is because Brunell threw an interception in preseason.

So let's get rid of Brunell. If Campbell doesn't work out, maybe we can find a gem in the draft like Heath Shuler or Charley Batch. (Maybe we can even get Bledsoe if the Cowboy fans get tired of him.)

I think a common misconception is that this is some knee-jerk reaction to the first game. Mark Brunell didn't play poorly in the first game, but he also didn't play well. Personally, I thought Campbell should have been prepared and started this season. A new offense lots of new personel, it's the perfect time to make the switch. I can't buy Mark Brunell is a good quarterback. He isn't consistant, he kills drives, he doesn't seem to make many reads in a game. "Moss is covered, Cooley is covered, Portis is covered, he throws it away. A lot of the time, that's okay, but when you see him throw it away when he still has seconds left to make a play it's a bit discerning. He just seems to rush.

Plus -- it's time to see what Campbell has. This isn't the 80's, you can't just have someone like Steve Young sit on your bench for years upon years. If Campbell isn't playing when his rookie contract is coming up, do you think he'll stick around? If he doesn't get his chance like Ramsey, will he stick around? Nope, he'll be gone and it's a waste of a draft pick.

A perfect time to switch QB's?
We won our first playoff game in over 10 years and were elimanted in the second round of the playoffs by the NFC Champs.
How was it a perfect time to throw out your incumbant QB?
