I thought this thread would have been started a lot sooner.

Jon Jansen's comments about HGH use in the NFL may start to send a little ripple through the NFL, perhaps through our very own locker room.

While it's not shocking to hear of this news in general, it was coming from a Redskin. It sorta hit home coming from a stand-up guy like Jansen too. For him to have such a strong conviction about, what he believes is north of 15%-20%, HGH usage he obviously has first hand knowledge.

I guess it just kinda broke my heart (the kid inside of me) a little that one of our own, a reliable source at that, has come out and said it. Now I'm forced to take off these rosed colored glasses and face the sad fact that, yes, steroids are a part of the NFL culture just like all the other major sports.

they interviewed a ton of people (including brian mitchell) and jansen ended up on TV cause he's they guy who said what they wanted to put on tape.

makes you wonder if he's guessing based on guys he's talked to, or what he's actually seen (being a lifelong redskin)...

I don't think he's guessing Guy. For him to throw out a specific number like 15-20%, and another player in the same article said around 30%, sounds like they've at least seen something with their own two eyes.

I would imagine Jansen's in the ballpark with his figure, considering that there really isn't a cheap test for hGH. Guys will always try to find an edge, and hGH is one of them.

If someone in baseball, let's say Derek Jeter for example, said he estimated 15-20% of MLB players were on HGH that would be front page news everywhere. If we found that members of the Houston Astros team that lost the WS last year were found guilty of steroid use like the 2004 NFC Champion Panthers were just the other day that too would be front page news everywhere.

But unless names like Brady, Harrison, Reed are attached to HGH speculation. Or unless records are on the line, it won't ever be as big for NFL fans as it is for baseball fans

is there a link?

did he say that he thinks 15-20% of the players use HGH, and nothing else?

what are his reasons for that perception?

As a society, I think we expect to see football players use such items to get bigger and stronger, whereas we expect to see more natural talent in baseball.
