How are practice squad players compensated, and what type contract do they work under? If a team sign's a player from another team's practice squad they have to add him to their 53 man roster, how then is his contract intergrated into the new team structure? I know someone famaliar with caps and contracts can shed some helpful insight. Thanks..

Curious.......

Not sure, but I think it would be around what they pay people for training camp, which was about 750-1000 a week, depending on if they are a rookie or not. This is just an educated guess, I am sure other people on this board have the exact answer.

Also I think one is not cannot be a part of the practice squad if they have been in the league for more than three years.

A guy I played football against played in High school, Jordan Carstens from the Panthers, was on the practice squad and I heard from his sisters friends that he was going to make about 80,000. He ended up getting signed mid season to a 300,000 contract as a rookie. Seriously not a bad days work considering he was undrafted.

I thought they made $60,000 a year, but it could be more than that now because that was last year. idk

That's about right. The minimum, last I heard, was $4700 per week (including playoffs) So, over a 17-week regular season period (include the bye week) that comes out to $79,900

its 80-110k a year. you make closer to 300k if you make the actual roster.

and after two years in the league you can no longer be squaded (a year counts as being on the roster for 9 games in one year)
