Sometimes a decent #2 is just the trick for an offense. Not to mention the fact that Stallworth will for the first time in his career have a much more consistent quarterback throwing him the ball.
Sure, but they don't have a decent #1.
Right now they have a bunch of #2 and #3 guys.
Beemnseven 08-29-2006, 10:52 AM Sure, but they don't have a decent #1.

Just like what they had when they were the best of the NFC just a few seasons ago.
In '99, the emergence of Albert Connell gave us a powerful #1 and #2 where there wasn't before. My point is you never know what a player will bring in terms of chemistry and providing what could be the last essential piece of an offensive puzzle.
Darrell_Green_28 08-29-2006, 10:54 AM 70 catches and nearly 1000 yds is hardly Taylor Jacobs my friend. If this kid is healthy, he could def. give us some problems. Keep in mind too, he had Aaron Brooks pitching him the ball not D. McNabb.
Look at that big word in your reply.... IF this kid is healthy. might have had 1 good yr ill give him that like i look for lloyd and RE to have a pretty good yr this yr. I know our db's can handle him.. no need to worry about this one.
ArtMonkDrillz 08-29-2006, 10:57 AM I've said this before and I'll say it again: Reggie Brown had two good games against us last year (171yrds and 3TDs total). While those aren't the biggest numbers, they were enough to make both games nail-biters. He's the only receiver on their team that concerns me at all. Now, Stallworth will help stretch the field. I'm hoping that Brown has a nice big sophomore slump that lasts a few seasons.
Damnit, I don't like the idea that philly's not a pushover.
Schneed10 08-29-2006, 12:56 PM I would add to that a dangerous tight end in L.J. Smith, along with a healthy Corell Buckhalter backing up Westbrook.
Now, the defense was really what enabled the Eagles in their NFC Championship years -- I think there's been a steady, moderate decline in the overall capability of their D, but it's still a force to be reckoned with.
Not sure how much of a decline there really is on defense. Darren Howard is there now, so the pass rush will be strong. The LBs have always been weak outside of Trotter. And the secondary is still young and strong. Dawkins is the only one you might say is aging, and he's still good.
They don't have Corey Simon anymore, so where the D may have dropped off is at DT.
Schneed10 08-29-2006, 01:02 PM Difference is we don't need Lloyd or Randle El to come in and light things up. Philly is in a more desperate situation, you don't bring in a guy this late unless it's due to injury or you have serious doubts about the guys you already have.
Stallworth isn't quite the deep threat he was when he came into the league due to his injury problems.
While he could have an impact for them, I'm just not all that concerned.
Well, I'm not really concerned about the Eagles BECAUSE they brought in Donte Stallworth. I'm concerned about the Eagles because I thought they were already the second best team in the NFC East (besides us) BEFORE they brought in Stallworth.
When you add speed on the outside it forces you to respect the deep ball. I don't think the Eagles need Stallworth to light things up either, because Brian Westbrook is going to be the biggest beneficiary of his presence. The field just got more open for Westbrook, who didn't need a whole lot of extra space to begin with.
My main point is I thought the Eagles were strong from the get-go. They're getting overlooked right now, which is exactly what was happening to the 'Skins last year. That puts a chip on your shoulder.
Never count out a team with a QB as good as McNabb, tackles as good as Tra Thomas and John Runyan, and a back as elusive as Westbrook. I know Gibbs and company aren't overlooking these guys, because they are very dangerous now that they're all healthy.
scowan 08-29-2006, 01:06 PM Donte will need to develop some timing with McNabb early on, but it won't take him long. I just drafted him Sunday in my Fantasy football league thinking he would be a Saint. Now I am loving him being an Eagle, but absolutely HATING him because I am a Redskins fan. So what is the Depth Chart for WR now in Philly? Brown #1, Stallworth #2, or is Stallworth the #1, because of his experience?
PSUSkinsFan21 08-29-2006, 02:14 PM Not sure where all of this injury talk is coming from. Stallworth has missed one game in that past two seasons for injury. I'd like to think he's not that good of a receiver because now he's an Eagle, but if I'm being honest with myself this move is a great move for the Eagles. If Stallworth was a Skin, he'd be our second best WR. Sure, the Eagles still don't have a marque #1WR........but Brown, Stallworth, Baskett is a heck of a lot better than Brown, Baskett, and anyone else they have (Lewis/Gaffney/Bloom/Avant/Pinkston). They've addressed their biggest need with a great trade and gave up essentially nothing (Simoneau sucks and who cares about a 4th round pick).
dmek25 08-29-2006, 02:23 PM whats stallworths contract status?
That Guy 08-29-2006, 02:31 PM i think he's on the last year of a 5 year deal. i've haven't heard of a new contract as of yet.
