not worried, but i'm pretty sure we'll get off to a slow start. hopefully our D bails us out and the skins pick up steam instead of degenerating.

Beemnseven 08-29-2006, 11:51 AM ^^^^ co-sign I'm not even really going to worry if our offense struggles the first few games of pre-season... it's a new system and we are basically going to be leaning on the D for a while until everyone is comfortable with the scheme. In addition to primarily evaluating fringe players, I have an inkling our veteran coaching staff wants to make sure our players don't start believing the hype before the season starts... These past few games (while meaning absolutely nothing in the standings) should keep their heads level. Yeah, we keep hearing this (the bolded phrase) but yet, they're running "vanilla" schemes, the basic stuff that every offense runs -- including Gibbs' from just last year -- and having lots of trouble executing it. You can't claim that "they're learning a new system" and cry that the coaches are calling plays that are "simple," and "too vanilla." Darrell_Green_28 08-29-2006, 12:06 PM Every superbowl champ for the past 10 years has had very good preseasons....but of course, who cares? Its football and anything can happen. If the Redskins hadn't pulled of that winning streak last year who knows what we would be thinking about ourselves right now. The coaching staff has been doing nothing to help its players out; there haven't been any great schemes or trick plays or what not. Obviously they don't care that much or they would be running those flea flickers and reverses like the other teams have been doing. hmmm how many of the preseason games count towards the regular season. so record during preseason means squat to me. like i have said all along have faith... only a few seem to believe that... Skins&PsuFAN4LIFE 08-29-2006, 12:27 PM Does anyone remember Steve Spurrier and his "fun and gun" offense in the pre-season his first season. Our preseason looked great and I believe we were 3-1. WHO CARES that we are losing right now. Joe Gibb's teams never do well in the preseason in terms of win-lose records, but they do produce during the year. Preseason is not about getting wins, it is about fine tuning your teams and seeing what fits and doesn't fit. Al Saunders told the press that he has used less than 2% of his masterpeice of offensive plays. We have hardly seen Randel-El in any plays. He will be a major part of our offense this year. So all of you Hogs and Hogettes out there, don't worry we will be O.K come Sept. 11. If they're losing 28-24, or 17-16, and the offense is moving down the field in some sort of cohesion; converting a third down here and there; getting a long, time consuming drive; but falling just short in some way, you wouldn't hear the alarms going off here at the Warpath. The problem is, we have seen NONE of what I just described. Joe Gibbs even said at one point that it looks like a lack of drive, that some players are expecting the playoff run last season to buy them success this season. That says a lot. It speaks more to a problem mentally, on a subconscious level -- about an eerie feel to a team that looks completely out of focus. But hey -- don't worry! All they have to do is flip a switch around 8pm on September 11th, and everything will be just fine! ...Right? MTK 08-29-2006, 03:05 PM But hey -- don't worry!
