washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/25/AR2006082501322.html)

Al Saunders estimates that he has revealed perhaps 2 percent of his 700-page playbook through his first two exhibition games as the Washington Redskins' associate head coach with responsibility for overseeing the team's offense. And he does not intend to display much more tonight when the Redskins play at New England.

Saunders said he has reserved the intricate work on timing and pass receiving routes for practice, where the Redskins are developing their game plan for the first few contests of the regular season, which begins Sept. 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Man, that must be one, thick playbook! No one really thinks we've shown anything. I guess this article substantiates that premise!

I just love the fact that I'm reading this at 11:30 p.m. Friday, and the Post is talking about Tonight's game!

I'm thinking.........sleep??

i predict a slow tart on offense, just like last year :/

you've got to practice your real plays against real competition at some point to figure game timing vs practice timing. hopefully our D plays lights out the first two games.

I don't think this excuses the poor play and lack of focus. The only plus here is that it may have contributed to the trade for TJ Duckett.

If we are only trading the equivalent of a third rounder, we have made a good decision there, especially if we can sign him to a longer contract as you would hope.

Installing a new offense is going to be difficult - and we are doing it with a new person in charge of the offense and a number of new players. So there is a lot to integrate and absorb. It will take time to adjust.

Still, we have been playing poorly and the foregoing isn't an excuse in my view.

i dont know if i agree with only showing 2% as saunders claims. I think you need to establish something that works...and honestly i havent seen a whole lot that really makes me feel good about the offense in the preseason although Jason Campbell has had his moments.

I think Riggo said on the radio that the offense hasn't gone into motion yet (not sure whether that's true). That tells me that we are working on us, not on trying to beat the other team.

This debate won't be settled unless we have a good showing today and doubters are satisfied that we can execute simple plays. Or on that first Monday Night game if our offense is around or not.
