In the right system Trotter could regain some of his former Pro Bowl form. He's not the same league as Ray Lewis, not even close, but he is still a quality LB.

MTK 06-02-2004, 03:24 PM SC makes a good point, Fiore would have been a great Gibbs/Bugel kinda player if he was healthy. He's versatile, strong as an ox and has a great work ethic. Sucks to see a guy like him go out like this. BrudLee 06-02-2004, 03:25 PM I guess it's not impossible that Fiore could get re-signed by the Redskins - maybe they are just interested in lowering his base, and couldn't get anything worked out. What is the cap hit for Fiore's release? CrazyCanuck 06-02-2004, 05:02 PM Does anyone know if we are "ahead" in dead cap money this year vs next? I would assume that only Trotter and Fiorie count towards next year. If memory serves me correct we are over $6M in dead cap money for this upcoming year. So it would seem that we are at around the same amount of dead money for this year and next. Can anyone confirm? Our dead cap for 2004, including Trotter and Fiore, is $9.2M. Next year Trotter will count $4.648M and Fiore $750K, bringing our 2005 dead cap to about $5.4M. Sidenote: In 2004 the Skins will use $9.2M (11.4%) of the cap on dead money, and another $8.75M (11%) on Samuels. Just thought I'd pass that ugly note along. CrazyCanuck 06-02-2004, 05:03 PM What is the cap hit for Fiore's release? Fiore will count $375K in 2004 and $750K in 2005. itvnetop 06-02-2004, 06:31 PM Hey Crazy... this may seem like a dumb question, but I still don't really know how this works- how long does a waived player's dead money count against a team's cap? Meaning, Trotter's contract was for 7 years i think (signed two years ago i believe) and it's going to count this year and next year's for sure. What about the remaining three years? Does the remaining contract disappear after the second year post-waive? thanks azskinsfan2 06-02-2004, 11:05 PM And if he gets picked up by another team, which is very likely, the only money that should count against us is the difference in his contract with us and what his new team pays him. Is that how it works???? |
