My Dad has the same one too, he loves it.

As far as Panasonic goes, Schneed is right they're top notch in plasmas.

So I called up to schedule my delivery today and man, do they try to push that extra warranty on you or what?! This lady tried to tell me that the average lifespan of a plasma tv is 3-5 years. I almost busted out laughing when she said this. In my head I'm thinking yeah maybe if you're talking about a dirt cheap model and you run it 24/7 with the brightness levels jacked all the way up.

I was polite and just kept declining, eventually she asked why I didn't want the extra warranty (for $499!) and I said based on the research I've done I don't feel it's necessary.

I wanted to say that I used to work for CompUSA and I know that you're not making much money off the TV itself, it's the warranties that you're cleaning house on.

I still can't get over her telling me that plasmas only last 3-5 years.

I was about to make a sizable donation to assist the overworked, underpaid staff that keep this place going.

I've now diverted that donation to fund a plasma screen for myself, seeing as the staff is obviously doing quite well.

Damn, thats a really really nice TV. You'd be suprised how much of a difference having a TV like that is when you're watching sports. Somtimes I'll watch stuff I could care less about just because of HDTV

Yeah that's a nice T.V. I recently bought a Sony 42" HDTV and I'm loving every sports event I can find. This TV is one of the reasons I work as hard as I do at my job. Well not that hard.

generally i reply with one of two things:
1. cause you're pushing it so hard, it's obviously nothing but free money for you.
2. are you telling me that you sell shoddy equipment? if you're so eager to sell me something that's about to break, why should i trust you with a warranty as well? i mean, why shouldn't i just find a place that doesn't deal in reject electronics?

things get a bit awkward, but it's still funny.
