The arrival of Duckett wasnt a warm welcome among our RB's today to say the least. Naturally b/c someone will have to sell their home, leave their comfort zone with a team, say bye to friends, not get a SB ring and move to the next town. Its kinda sad to see these pro athletes to travel so much but the days of franchise players like Ripken or R.Lewis who mean so much to the town and club they are cemented there forever seem to be gone. However, this is a business and even civilians face this day to day.

The Defense I know will appreciate it so they dont have to worry about that matchup later in the season against Atl. This move will keep the Offense on the field longer or may backfire and well score 80 yd TD on the first play giving the Defense no rest. Those guys Im sure may have formed a bond with Betts(assuming he's traded) but would rather have a trophy and ring over a couple year bond.

I hope Portis can understand the bigger picture here to get to the super bowl but he seems like the type of territorial player that this is going to be a problem for his ego. With Betts Portis knew who was the Boss, but TJ is a grown man also who was picked before him in the draft so I hope there isnt any Alpha male issues yet to unfold. Portis has to know he will be our #1 guy and co-face of the team for years, but nowdays players can have such hissy fits to want to up and leave. CP said earlier he wants to be done by the 3rd qtr laughing on the sideline. This move seems he may just get that often. Its a bad vibe of chemistry I am hoping will swing positive.

Do you guys think Duckett's arrival will disrupt or be a problem for Portis ????

I think it will be positive. He'll have the outside runs and duckett will take all the contact busting up the gut of the defense. As for betts, i honestly believe he will be traded away in the next few weeks or so. You know he has to feel unwanted right about now. I think this trade said more about betts than portis. Portis knows he's the man and no one will take that away from him as long as he is in Washington. Portis is a gibbs guy. See you later Betts.

I think you're right that this is more about Betts than Portis. I think after last season, Gibbs saw what happened when Patten and Thrash were both out and he was down to Farris and Jacobs lining up with Moss. So he went out and added both El and Lloyd to ensure he had depth. I think this summer he saw Portis get hurt looked down the bench and saw Betts and thought "If Bro Sweets goes down at any point can I count on this guy?" And I think his answer was, at best, "I'm not sure." They got by with those injuries last year and through sheer will got to the divisional playoffs.

But this year isn't about getting by or just making it to the playoffs, it's about winning the whole thing. So he had to be proactive and make a move now

I KNOW. It was a trick question.GOTCHA. Portis is the man. TJ is a bulldozer collecting TD's and leads. Betts couldnt get to the next level and he's bye bye. And Gibbs is crushed underneath all the Lombardi's falling into his lap should he choose to reside with us for many years.

If you read his response in the other article it seems like he doesnt give a shit. He knows his job is secure, so it doesn't really matter. Betts and Rock may have differing opinions, on the other hand.

Gibbs has the best insurance company in the league SNYDER. Is this a slap in the face to teams not picking up the phone or is it subliminal to these players to want to come to DC where they are HOT FIRE. HOT FIRE.

Stevie Wonder tried to sign me, I said Stevie you dont even have a record label to sign me, so Dan Syder signed me.

portis wants all the rest he can get, and if portis doesn't comeback as soon as we think, then we have 2 more-than-capable backs to carry the load for a couple weeks, and if betts is traded then we still have a capable back in duckett. i think portis will love this because this means that he doesn't have to take such a beating during the season

I think he is a proud young man though, sharing time is one thing, but I know he keep tab and admires his accomplishments I hope this isnt going to be problem later. He did have talk and hopes of 2k YDS so I know he wants to be the best and reap all the fame too. We'll see.
