scary thought: mike sellers leading the way for TJ duckett. i wouldn't look forward to taking on that if i were on defense
We traded for T.J. Duckett?superskins 08-23-2006, 11:44 AM scary thought: mike sellers leading the way for TJ duckett. i wouldn't look forward to taking on that if i were on defense Big C 08-23-2006, 11:44 AM this is true, we can keep portis around longer if we spread the workload a little more, less hits, more years for portis, and more red zone touchdowns :) artmonkforhallofamein07 08-23-2006, 12:01 PM not just that, late in the game when the defense has their hands on their hips, and sucking wind after chasing portis for 3 quarters, then they have big TJ to deal with. this is gonna be fun to watch. Good Point, didn't think about that. Also watching the TJ highlight video he could bust a 3rd and short for a 20 yd. gain. I think we made a great trade here. Just another piece of the Superbowl puzzle. Now if we can figure out some corner depth. MTK 08-23-2006, 12:02 PM To all of those screaming the sky is falling as a result of this trade, you need to go get laid or something because you are clearly wound way too tight. We got great value for NEXT YEAR's #3 pick. NEWSFLASH: That pick will not be on the field THIS YEAR. There is a window of opportunity THIS YEAR. What we got in return was someone who can be a real goal line back -- something that we have been missing (and has cost us games). Duckett does ease the stress of when CP will be back, but here is the part I'm really looking forward to: Seeing what happens when Al Saunder's puts CP & TJ in the backfield at the same time. The way AS uses the FB position, this would create some amazing opportunities for mismatches that will result in points. Great points. The future is now, that's all you can be concerned about in today's NFL. gibbsisgod 08-23-2006, 12:18 PM Wright On Time (http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=19069) there is a very interesting quote from gibbs in this article from redskins.com "Right now there have probably been 8-10 phone calls in here from different teams that want some of our players". Now i know not all of those calls were for Betts' availability. Maybe some were for Patten. Could anyone else be on the trading block? Maybe some were for Patten. Could anyone else be on the trading block? I'd bet that most of those calls are for Betts. Maybe there's some interest for Patten, but WR isn't the valued commodity that RB is. Teams have real needs for RB, most teams on the other hand aren't begging for #3 WRs. Darrell_Green_28 08-23-2006, 12:29 PM if this is true, then it's a dumb move... a first and third possibly? that's terrible... What I dont understand is why would we give a higher draft pick if we had a worse record? artmonkforhallofamein07 08-23-2006, 12:32 PM One last point for me to make, which is pure speculation, in aquiring TJ and sending Lellee to Atlanta, haven't we in some way hurt the Eagles who were interested in both players. Just a thought....... MTK 08-23-2006, 12:32 PM What I dont understand is why would we give a higher draft pick if we had a worse record? Think of it as a bet between the two teams. If they finish better, they get better picks. It wouldn't make much sense the other way around. It's just one of those conditionals to make a trade work. Just a thought....... Good point. The Eagles haven't done much to address their needs at WR or RB. Two premium players just went off the market. |
