If a player goes out there and dont give it his all, he have a better chance of gettting hurt than if he goes full tilt. Its the players that half ass it that either get cut or get hurt, everyone on the other team is trying to make the 53 man roster, if your just jogging around they will knock your teeth out just to make themselves look better and give them a better chance of making the team.

i think schneeds point is valid among the coaching staff. deciding which players to use with what packages. how long players stay on the field, and so forth. a side note, did anyone else notice rocky mcintosh playing some snaps with the first teamers?

Yeah, I saw that maybe even on the opening drive. Theres really no reason to hold back on him, its good evaluation and experience there. It has me thinking though that with the linebackers we already had was Rocky really so neccessary? I wonder what cornerback or OL we could have shopped for had we invested elsewhere. Damn.

Sshneed, I was thinking along the same line at one point but I didn't post it because I thought by it being such a touchy subject I would just leave it alone. I do however think that rant by portis did have some affect on the rest of the team, just how much is difficult to guage. I think that whole situation could have been avoided had Portis discussed the fact with Gibbs before hand, and expressed his desire not to play in the game as opposed to making statements like that after the fact. It was plain to see Gibbs did not like it. Riggins comented on it during the game Saturday night, Sonny talked about it today on the 6:00 O'clock sports with G. Michael. From a fans perspective it's difficult to tell just how severe the impact of something like that has on a team. It is regretable, and something you don't like to see happen.

So let's see, a player gets injured, (admittedly, a star player) and the rest of the team is so demoralized that they start playing like crap?

That doesn't sound like anything that would happen to a Joe Gibbs-coached team.

Sure, the man is old. Im sure he was going to come back this year anyway but with all the new recievers and talent and Super Bowl calibur team emerging he came back to us for hope of one more shot at a ring but I dont see him hanging on for anything beyond. It was good business for both. We didnt restructure his contract this year so he is getting a hefty check once again but this will be Jason's team and for this year of paving the way for him it really is Mark's sendoff afterwards. I would like the possibility of telling Mark he can stay next year if he takes less money, and serves as a 2nd string role. Both Mark/Todd are old Im worried that we will be empty handed with only 1 QB so we will have to ask Daddy Snyder for some big cash down the road to get some quality backups for Jason probably in 2 years cuz Todd lets be honest sucks donkey's ____.
