Would you trade Patten for depth?

We are still solid at WR. Id like to keep Espy, and put Cash on the practice squad. There are a few teams with a real need at WR b/c of injury. Should we seek a trade for a backup OL or another corner?

I think you keep Patten as there will come a time this season where we will need him to step up due to injury.

No--Give Saunders all the weapons we can.

No. Patten will be needed at some point this season. It's a virtual guarantee.

I'm not sure he would bring much in a trade.

With Jacobs at least he had youth on his side.

Espy has looked good, but he's not a proven veteran like Patten. We've seen our share of training camp heros... I like Espy but I wouldn't want him over Patten.

I think people are jumping the gun with the OL depth.

I'm not certain what the cap impact would be of trading him (and I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment). Probably a reason why it is not a likely scenario.

That said, I've always been underwhelmed by DP. We have more youth with more upside at WR than DP. If we could get something of value, then I would like to see us take it.

Agreed. No doubt it is a concern at this point, and an area everyone should be watching. But we definitely have to give it a chance to see what we have. Trying to judge the backup lineman in one preseason game isn't really fair. Let's see what they do over the next few weeks; my guess is a couple will start to emerge as viable backups.

But in the end I wouldn't trade Patten at all (please don't ask me if I'd trade him for a first rounder, because I'm only considering the realistic). He will be very valuable for us at some point this season.

Pattens speed will be utlized much more in Saunders offense, the seem routes Saunders likes to run are based on outrunning the defender to the inside which is perfect for Patten. I just don't see us bringing back anything worth while for Patten.

Patten plays wideout where we are very deep, so I would honor trade offers. But I would only deal him for a draft pick or a player who was guarenteed to make the roster and help the team. No camp fodder deals, like Mike Rumph simply because we are weak there.

I also don't see a good trade coming our way.

Sure, but whose got too many corners?
