Found this on the training camp blog:
Just received word that the Redskins have signed safety Ben Emanuel, a former fifth-round pick of the Carolina Panthers who played in 11 games and started eight for the San Francisco 49ers last season. To make room for Emanuel, the team released safety Dennard Wilson. 4:10 p.m. ET
Guess someone was not pleased with the safety play at Fed Ex!

More from the blog on Emanuel:
Early in practice, newcomer Ben Emanuel is working one-on-one with safeties coach Steve Jackson. For now, they are tossing the ball and warming up. Emanuel appears to have good size: he's 6-2 and 213 pounds. That's an example of how remarkable Sean Taylor is: the former first-round pick comes in at 6-2 and 232 pounds. 4:50 p.m. ET

Wow. Brandon Llloyd, Andre Carter, Ben Emanuel. Who would ever thought we'd be poaching the 2005 Niners of all teams as we make a push for the Super Bowl?

We need a solid number 4 and 5 safety due to the fact that Archuletta and Taylor could very possibly knock each other out as they are bound to converge on many a poor slot reciever and tight end on any given Sunday.

Its a wonderful burden to have those two wrecklessly back there.
The move of Emanuel seems to put the heat on Reed Doughty's livelyhood dont you think or was Wilson the poorer performer between the two?

That statement reminds me of last year's Broncos defensive line - they poached the woeful Browns for all four starters, and went 13-3.
Just sayin'...
