I dont believe there is a such thing as AF2, if the President is not aboard then the aircraft resorts back to its original tail number.
Like TAFKAS said above, Air Force Two is used for the aircraft the Vice President is a passenger of.

No, there is not AF 2. No military or civilian flight is designated AF2. If the VP is on board it is either a SAM (special air mission) or takes the original tale number of that particular aircraft.

Really?

Then what's this all about?

Vice President Cheney (http://www.whitehouse.gov/vicepresident/photoessays/04.html)

And this?

10.29.2004 - Air Force Two behind him, Al Gore eyes the stratosphere (http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2004/10/29_gore.shtml)

"I flew on Air Force Two for eight years," he (Gore) said, feigning a pained expression, "and now I have to take off my shoes to get on an airplane."

Or is it that AF2 is just "slang" really?

Also, when Bush flew the fighter jet onto the carrier early during the war, it was Air Force One at the time. Just whatever the President is currently flying in. Hehe, just watch the movie Air Force one and you'll learn some of that stuff too.

So, when he steps out of the jet, and onto the carrier, does that then become "Navy One (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_One)"

I also seen it at the game think the president wanted to see the best team in football playing and couldnt get a ticket with 47,000 crazy redskins fans there. He would have gotten the Dallas sucks chat thrown at him.
