Read this article in the post today. I like the attitude our players have when asked about the expectations of this season. Not sure if i completely agree with everything in this article. But I guess this will make you think a little.

the players are just focused on getting to the superbowl. there not saying "we are going to win the superbowl". there saying "get to the superbowl and the numbers take care of them selves".

big difference

About time someone at the Post said something in the negative direction about the skins! Man, I thought they'd drunk the koolaid or something.

Not that I completely disagree with Wise here, but I don't think the players have been overconfident. When asked, they said, yes, our goal is to win the superbowl, and anything else is a disapointment. But as Brunnell correctly pointed out, that should be the attitude of EVERY NFL player right now. Imagine if they said, No, we'd be satisfied with a repeat of last year?

He's right about the depth issues, especially on the o-line, and everyone is aware of the risk at QB. But whatever.

BTW, did anyone see the press conference where Gibbs got quite pissed about this issue, and totally rejected the claim that anyone had made guarantees or predictions? He said, Look at the quotes. No player said that. We don't make predictions here. He was not happy about it! Bet it was Wise who asked the question, trying to get dirt for this column...

Kind of a non-issue to me.

Whether a team talks Super Bowl or not doesn't matter. Let's face it, if you're not thinking Super Bowl at this time of year, you're already out of the race.

Nobody is coming out and saying we're winning it all this year, they're just saying that's the goal and if they fall short it will be a disappointing season.

Isn't that every team's mindset heading into a new season??

At this time of the year it's every team's ambition"to get to the SB". I understand where JG is coming from because it's much too early to put that bull"s-eye on your back already. Gibbs has always been a cautious optimist, and remembering at one point in the season we were 5-6 even with the additions we've made we still have to keep things in perspective. We have a very tough schedule and there's going to be some close games played in there against some very good teams espically in our own division. We all look to improvement over last year, but I would not go as far to say that anything less than a SB victory would be dissapointing. Even if we "think" we can make it to the SB, August is not the time to speak, and I think that's the point Gibbs is trying to make. Maybe in December we can entertain that kind of talk.

i'd rather have some games won first before SB talk, but it doesn't really matter since a lot of teams engage in such things. I'm a big fan of "show me, don't tell me" though.
