Hey guys,

People seemed to like to hear what I said about Monday so I'll do another, not quite so lengthy, rundown. Yet again, I'd like to preface this post by saying I understand that it is training camp, I understand players will be rusty/learning so I'm not saying this is solid, just my feelings from what I saw today. It's not the end of our season if we look bad here!

First of all. The running backs stole the fire today. Watch out Portis, Jesse Lumdson (sp? I know if you sound it out it's like that!) and ROCK CARTRIGHT are really pushing for their roster spots. Making great moves, hitting holes well. All in all great performances out of both. Don't get me wrong, Portis put the moves on some folks too.

Second of all, Quarterbacks. Mark Brunell was playing better, but still overthrowing a lot of receivers and was pretty off target, but the important thing is hes making progress. Campbell was really winging those balls in there. Perfect balls into double coverage. Campbell throws what seems to be an extremely accurate ball, then out of no where way overthrows his receiver. Hopefully he'll get rid of that soon.

The Linebackers looked improved, but our defense needs some more swagger. I'm just not seeing the defense in practice I hope to see on the field. Granted, everything is very vanilla at this point. But hopefully they'll get a bit more intense soon.

I was concerned about our pass catchers, but no longer. MOss is looking great, Lloyd looks amazing, Randel El has been solid. All the WRs have been playing hard. Taylor Jacobs ran hard today, made some good catches. He was also the only WR who after practice, took his pads and helmet off. Went to the coach, and started working on his route and got more coaching. Which I can respect after just standing in that sun for two hours. I can't imagine running that out. BTW, The Rod Gardner we thought we had is back. Watch out for #87 this year -- Mr. Robert Johnson. I never realized how huge this guy was. And catching passes. Great thing to see.

Any questions or comments? Let me know!

nothing special from ladell? He was dropping passes and dropping handoffs the first day. Otherwise he was pretty good getting out pretty quickly. I just don't know how jesse can beat this competition. He is a great player. Anyone that has seen him play sees him hit the defense and trucking on. He pwned sean taylor on the first or second day. Sean may not have been trying very hard but he landed sean on his ass and sean could do nothing but clap as jesse to it to the house. My man.

How is the other ex-CFL RB doing, Kerry Carter? Is he playing at all?

seems to sound the same as earlier this week. hopefully by preseason the accuracy problems will be fixed.

very little. when i went wednesday he only had 1-2 carries. he did manage to take a toss left into the endzone though. solid, but there's too much competition and lumsden has better numbers.

I'm glad Robert Johnson is looking good as a receiver. I remember last summer commenting on how impressed I was with his blocking. If he can add receiving...watch out

D Line seems to be our strong point. Not something I expected to happen with this team. The Linebackers looked a lot stronger today than they did before, and the secondary looks like it's coming along. Everything is so vanilla right now that it's hard to tell. I think we'll be solid for sure.

i haven't heard anyone really mention mcintosh or holdman yet... i was kinda hoping mcintosh would show early flashes like ST or even portis in his first year (as a redskin).

yeah, I'm curious about holdman especially after Daseal (If I remember the thread) said that he hit Loyd 15 yards downfield for no apparent reason. I hope that is a legit competition for weak side lb.
I think the wr's are probably playing well because there is stiff competition, even among the top 3. None of them can afford to take too many plays off.
I am worried about what I hear of campbell. I know its early in camp, but I remember at auburn he could sail the ball a bit. he's really gonna have to step up to make 2nd string.
