The Perfect Play

Watching the K.C. offense for the past few years I have come to envy their execution on the middle screen pass. They would consistently get a few linemen downfield with Priest right behind them, and Green would just dump the ball over the defenders for a gain of usually 20 yards. It is really a beautiful play being executed perfectly.

My question: do you guys think we'll be able to execute the middle screen so effectively? If so, watch out!

The perfect play is the Annexation of Puerto Rico. Everyone knows that.

Although we threw to the reciever instead of the back, its not difficult to execute. A professional football team will have no problem whatsoever.

It's a borderline gadget play because the idea is to not block the defensive line, dump it over thier heads, and have the big nasties blow up some LBs and DBs downfield. I have to imagine Portis would be even better at running it than LJ because it's all open field running. Could be good, but if the D Line gets wise to it, it wont go anywhere.

I agree that, with defensive discipline, the play can be stopped. However, it seemed like K.C. ran that play multiple times every game, and nobody ever stopped it consistently.

I think we could have great success with this play. Last year the team showed that they can execute the screen as well as anybody.
Plus, remember, all Santana is good for is catching a short pass and running behind blockers.

The key to Al's offense is that he usually does not run the same play more than once during a game. That keep's his offense very unpredictable. he has said that, which makes it even more amazing how creative this guy is. That he is that innovative when it comes to designing plays.

I think we have PLENTY of players who could execute this play very well for us.

The linemen, of course...along with Portis, Moss, Lloyd, Betts all on the receiving end. The only problem with Moss is that he'll be in the end zone before the linemen get out to block for him. :)

We could also screen the ball out to Randel El who can throw it downfield to Cooley. :)

How about a screen to Portis who then throws it back across the field to Randel El who then hits a wide open Santana in the endzone to put the nail in the coffin of Super Bowl XLI.
