I agree. Id love to send Patten somewhere in return for a quality backup offensive tackle or center.
you bring up a very good point - could the skins be looking to deal patten somewhere. although he's sick right now, hope he gets better.

Maybe that's what he thinks being a "vocal leader" is all about...lol. I never said he was a good influence on your team, just that he could play and that he makes teams better.
I don't deny that. I'm just pumped at the first hints of problems!
Hooray problems!!

Kennedy in town
Retired offensive lineman Lincoln Kennedy met with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, and a team source said he will be at Redskin Park today to meet with coaches.
Kennedy hasn't played since 2003 in Oakland and appeared in 169 games. His lone connection to the Redskins is line coach Joe Bugel, who coached Kennedy with the Raiders in the late 1990s.
Kennedy, 35, worked for NFL Network last year.

I think that the Kennedy talk is a non starter. He got the interview with Dallas as a favour to his agent who is based in Dallas. There was no workout, and I read an 'insiders' report that they told him that it was in his best interest to NOT play professional football again.
Sounds like health concerns.
You all saw Dallas' line last year. Kennedy couldn't get as far as a workout.
Make of that what you will.

I really think there needs to be improvement on the O-Line. Ray Brown is gone, and the bench is weak. It is good to have Samuels, Jensen and Thomas, but we are gonna need depth.

This is not going to happen. Plus, we’d be sorry if it did. Tyson Walter and Mike Pucillo were signed as offensive line depth. With team salary caps already settled, nobody is going to release offensive linemen of any quality. Depth is just as important to every other team out there as it is to us. Sure, we all want Orlando Pace or Steve Hutchinson-type quality on the second string. But that’s fantasy land; it’s not the reality in today’s NFL. Pucillo and Walter is as good as it’s going to get as far as back-up O-linemen go.
By the same token, not many teams can lay claim to the fact that they have 4 -- count’em -- FOUR capable, veteran wideouts who can take over and not miss a beat should one or two of them go down to injury for any length of time. We saw what happened to this offense when Brunell had only Moss and Cooley to throw to.
Trust me, we do not want to see David Patten go anywhere. He got a bad break last season, and we did not see what he’s truly capable of. Having him behind Moss, Lloyd, and Randle El makes up a depth chart any coach in the NFL would kill for. It would be asinine to give up something like that.

I heard he took a physical in Dallas but didn't pass.

he wants a ring and he is going to the NFC East to try and accomplish it, he must think the winner of the superbowl will be from our division. I would pick him up as long he's not as bad as raymer was last year he will be a plus

raymer :(... and brunell and jansen were talking about what a great pickup he'd be an hoping to have him back after his release. talk about being political. I think the last thing either of them would ever want is him back in the lineup making everyone else look terrible.

Kennedy is toast - he didn't past the physical with the Skins either. Gibbs said he had "health issues."

Too big and fat to even warrant a tryout.
LOL
