Does anyone know of an easy and cheap (hopefully free) way to create .pdf files??

Hit me up on IM. I can make it happen.

There has to be a freeware application that does this.

If you happen to have a copy of AutoCad, you can plot to Acrobat Distiller instead of an actual plotter, that's how I make my .pdf files here at work.

Owning the full version of Acrobat is the best way to make that happen. Fans of BitTorrent may know how to receive a "discounted" version.

You can create documents using OpenOffice 2.0 and export the file to a PDF file. It's pretty nifty though you can't create fill-able forms (just basic forms using tables) as everything is converted to a image then exported to a PDF file.

on my laptop at home, i use this: pdf 995: create PDF documents easily for free (http://www.pdf995.com/) They install a print driver that allows you to print to a PDF file.

on the Adobe website you can use their utility to create as well...not sure the limitations though.

if you don't want to go the bittorrent route, openoffice is the best choice. its a free microsoft office type application (full featured too).

You might also want to try Scribus. (http://www.scribus.net/index.php)
