I know Rocky is competing for the weakside LB spot THIS UPCOMING SEASON, but Marshall's contract is up after this year..right?? So, seeing how successful Lemar Marshall's transition from weakside to middle LB has been, i think its a strong possiblity IF Lemar's contract price is a little steep next year. What do u guys think?????

According to CrazyCanuck's cap sheets, Marshall is under contract in 2007. And his cap sheets are dogma.
In any case, the salary cap should not be an issue for the Skins at all in the coming offseason. Every single projected starter is under contract in 2007 except for Derrick Dockery. And the 'Skins will have a lot of base salaries and roster bonuses that can be restructured to create plenty of cap room to make just about any moves they feel necessary.

Back to Network's basic question, no, I don't see McIntosh moving to MLB. It's too soon to ask the question. We haven't even seen him play NFL football yet.
I suspect Gibbs & company have a 5-deep target list of potential trades or free agents who can step into every roster position mapped out for the next three seasons. They would look there before moving McIntosh to the middle.

WOW, Lemar Marshall is only a $700,000 cap hit the next 2 seasons. Thats a steal!!

WOW, Lemar Marshall is only a $700,000 cap hit the next 2 seasons. Thats a steal!!Highway robbery. But you make a good point. When Lemar's contract is up, he will likely want to land a big money deal somewhere. He will be in the 31-32 range, and will have no choice but to take the best offer he can get regardless of team loyalty, because it will be his last chance at a big payday. With the obvious '08 cap problem looming (although another CBA extention before the 2008 season is not out of the question, it runs through 2011, but either side can choose to nullify it after the 2008 season), we simply won't have the luxury to resign players. Enter the current draft, and the emphasis on getting LBs late.
My guess is Havner earns the MLB job in 2008. He has to work to make the team, but I'm certain he will thrive in the system.

Not a chance if Lemar can maintain the level of play that he displayed last year. Rocky fits best on the outside.

Lets also not forget that the middle linebacker is responsable for making the last second adjustments to the defense.I dont believe that asking a rookie to learn a new system so completley that he can make those calls is very realistic.Marshals transition was smooth because he is a veteran and not a wide eyed rook.

Especially when you take into account what Antonio Pierce was looking for.
