Hogroll 07-29-2006, 07:40 PM Ok, so I am so getting fired up about training camp I can't stand it! I'm going to be there for the Mon, Tues, and Wed practices. Haven't nailed down a hotel yet.. yeah, I'm rolling the dice on that one. Hope to find something reasonable within 15 miles or so.
Question: What are the places to hang out?:food-smil For the past 2 years my sons and I have only come down for one day... this time I intend on enjoying some night life too. I know that back in Carlisle, PA, "The Gingerbeadman" was always good for catching a player or 6, and meeting up with some fans. How about in Sterling? Any such spots?
If any of you guys want to hookup down there, drop me a PM. I'll have my 3 son's (16, 13, and 11), and one of their buddys (10) if any of you need to parter up your kids. Seeing as how practice doesn't start until 4, I imagine there will be plenty of pool time during the afternoon.
This is so going to be a blast! Damn... I pee'd myself again!
That Guy 07-29-2006, 09:36 PM there's always the museums in DC if you're up for it. your kids should all be able to find something worthwhile in Air and Space or the Natural History museum.
might jam up the shedule a bit too tight though, i don't know what you're up for.
That Guy 07-29-2006, 09:37 PM oh yeah, bring LOTS of bottled water. its $4 there and it'll probably be insanely hot for the afternoon stuff (it always is).
Daseal 07-29-2006, 09:46 PM Air and Space is a bit pricey, but fairly close to training camp and fun.
As far as night life, if you ride up 50 a bit into Fairfax there are a lot of bars. Buffalo Wings University is the GMU hangout and probably the best bar. Great specials, etc. PJ SKidoo's (SP?), The Firehouse (live music, small place), many others. There's also a little bar in the Best Western nearby that's supposed to be a good time. Il Lupos is nice -- leather couches, but a smaller assortment of upper tier liqour and a bit pricier.
As far as seeing players and such. Dulles Town Center is your best bet. Ruth Chris' steak house (high priced steak house), Cheescake factory, other very solid reasturants around. I've seen a player or two hanging around there at random times. Joe Gibbs lives right down the road from there (or so I hear).

Good info Daseal. Not really up to driving back into DC during the days. Trust me, we have picked that over. I think our plans during the day is to hang out at the pool, relax and talk football! Town Center sounds like a great spot. Years ago I used to bartend at a Houston's restaraunt in Manhattan Beack in CA.. back in the day with the Raiders were in LA. We used to get quite a few of them popping in (Jeff Hostetler and crew)... the way they would size of the Prime Rib dinner... 32 oz of nearly raw meat!

??? the museums and galleries are free. the McD's or whatnot are like 8$ for a meal, but you can bring your own. the only expensive thing worth looking at is an imax.
Daseal 07-31-2006, 10:06 AM Ah, I was wrong. The museum is free, but parking is 12 bucks for the Chantilly Air and Space.

After camp Town Center is nice place to hangout, and their are places where you can eat cheap, like California Pizza Kitchen, Potbelly's Subs, and their is a nice movie theater there. I suggest you go their one night after camp, and Air and Space isn't a bad activity for the kids during the day, and the one we are talking about is not in DC, it is in Chantilly, VA. About 10 mins from Skins training camp.
