The first game of the season always scares me the most. You really have no idea how some teams are going to look, and that goes for the Skins as well.

Are they going to come out firing on all cylinders? Will they struggle early on to find their groove?

Are they going to come out firing on all cylinders? Will they struggle early on to find their groove?Which is why we were so fortunate to draw a home game vs. the Vikings on opening day. The offense can come out slow, and the Skins can still win pretty easily. Not that the Vikings won't be competitive, but at home, we don't need to play our best football to beat them.

GTripp, thats the kind of attitude that could do the skins in on opening day. Lets hope the team doesnt think that way or we all could be saying, "What the hell happened?"

You guys talk about us learning a new offense, so are they...and theirs is a lot different from the one they had before. Gregg Williams knows how to stop the eagles offense, so he should be able to stop this one because it is the same thing, but with worse players. We should definitely win, but I'm still worried.

Things to consider with the Vikes:

Can Moss and Lloyd perform well against Antoine Winfield and a healthy Fred Smoot? Smooty was hurt last year and had a tough season, but he's a solid player, and healthy again. Luckily their nickel CB sucks, so Randle-El may have opportunities here in the slot.

Do we have the CB depth to match up with Troy Williamson, Koren Robinson, Marcus Robinson, and Travis Taylor? Exactly how good is our nickel, Kenny Wright?

Can our D-line get to Brad Johnson? Their tackles are iffy, but exactly what do we have in Andre Carter?

I'm confident in our offensive line's ability to create holes for Portis. I'm confident Brunell won't make bad decisions. I'm very confident in our return game. And I'm extremely confident in our run defense. But there are concerns when we match up with the Vikes. Luckily the things I feel confident about outweigh the things I'm concerned about.

those are all junk WRs. our nickel is fine, but not great against speedsters. I wouldn't worry about their passing game too much.

I don't think that any game in the NFL can be considered a definite win. However, I do think the Skins should and will beat the Minnesota Vikings. Chester Taylor doesn't really scare me too much. Niether do the wide recievers on that roster. Defensively, I think they could be solid (middle of the pack) and they have a new coach. Who knows how long it will take them to come together as a team. I don't think this a definite win, but certainly a game they should win.

Kenny Wright was a 16 game starter in Jacksonville for the #6 overall defense (#7 Passing). Yeah, I'll let him sit at the nickel. I'll let him start if Springs is feeling 31 years old.

I will, but Gibbs is too good of a coach to allow that to happen.

Exactly. I don't remember the Skins ever looking over-confident last year (maybe the Giants game, but that was such an anomaly.)
