Everybody makes great points in the overrated category...I was really wanting to argue, but you guys are on point.

Redskins8588 05-19-2004, 11:58 PM Over-rated: Eddie George - I just don't see it, when we had Stephen Davis everybody talked about how George was a hard runner, but it seemed Davis did not get any credit. Tom Brady - How in the world can he win Super Bowl MVP's when IMO Adam Vinitary(sp) won both of their Super Bowls? Emmit Smith - I know he is the all-time rushing leader, but look at the talent level on the cowgirls, vs. the Lions when Barry played. If Barry Sanders did not retire when he did he, hands down, would be the all-time rushing leader. Under-Rated: I agree with all the others... You want the one most overrated player in the league right now? Brian Urlacher. Lavar goes into that situation with a stable coaching staff and defenseive coordinator, he has ever bit as much hype as Urlacher. There is one thing that Urlacher has though, he is white, and he plays middle linebacker, and there are too many similarities to Dick Butkus, he is all media overhype and Lavar is definitely the superior player I was curious what has lavar done to be considered a top LB? I wonder if you have actually seen Urlacher play? the guy can play, big time, I would also like to know what is so stable about chicago? up until now Urlacher has out performed Lavar....... and nobody is trying to build up Lavar as the second coming of LT? BossHog 05-20-2004, 10:15 AM Overrrated= McNabb (I believe the success he has had the past three years minus last one was due to the domination of the Eagles D. Underrated= Brady/McNair (The best QBs in the game right now) Overpaid= Arrington (Anyone making that kind of money had better be the best at his position and a great leader. He's lacking on the latter) Defensewins 05-20-2004, 11:36 AM There is one thing that Urlacher has though, he is white, and he plays middle linebacker, and there are too many similarities to Dick Butkus, he is all media overhype and Lavar is definitely the superior player I could not agree more. Urlacher is the most overated and over hyped in the NFL. He did great when he had two monster probowl DT's Teddy Washington and Keith Traylor, in front of him to protect him. Last year when Teddy Washington was gone Urlacher did not do as well. Now that they lost Traylor this offseason, he will be worse. MLB Ray Lewis overcame losing DT's Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa and still played at a high level. Defensewins 05-20-2004, 11:53 AM I was curious what has lavar done to be considered a top LB? I wonder if you have actually seen Urlacher play? the guy can play, big time, I would also like to know what is so stable about chicago? up until now Urlacher has out performed Lavar....... and nobody is trying to build up Lavar as the second coming of LT? Let me start be saying Urlacher is a very good player. But he is only the second best MLB. I have seen Urlacher play.....I remember a particular game fondly, because I was watching it with my friends and I was arguing with one of my buddies about who is better Ray Lewis or Urlacher. I was saying Lewis is better and Urlacher overated because he is white. A few plays later the argument died down and we are all suddenly watching closely (Buffalo Bills vs. Chicago Bears game two years ago). Suddenly we all see Bills OG Rueben Brown pick up off the ground and move Urlacher (by the shoulder pads) out of the way like he was a little kid. The friend I was arguing with, a huge Bears and Urlacher fan was embarrased, as the network kept showing the replay over and over again. I can tell you Lavar can make stupid mistakes and get blocked out of a play, but I have never seen an offensive lineman pick him up and move him ouf the way like this. Urlacher needs to put on about 10-15 pounds of muscle in order to be the best MLB in the league. Gmanc711 05-20-2004, 11:58 AM O-VER-RATED - RB Corey Dillon - Maybe its his additude that gets me, but he just doesnt seem to be as good as I think hes made out to be. QB Dante Culpepper- His best years are behind him, hes still a decent qb, but just about any NFL QB can go out and have a feild day with the recivers they got(or had) over there. Hell Gus Ferrotte tore the house down when he steped up this season. Under-rated. I honestly think Fred Smoot is underrated. Maybe its my bias, or him being behind Bailey, but I think this guy is a damn good player and should be considered a big CB. Not on like the " 100% shut down corner level", but a big time CB. We'll find out this year w/o Bailey here. Now I know I'm gonna get a TON of heat for this one, and this by no means affiliates me with this man or his team in any way shape or form. HOWEVER, I know hes not that good, but Quincy Carter takes WAYYYYYYY too much heat in Dallas. Is he the guy that can lead them to a superbowl, no , absolutley not. Is he a guy that will lead them past the Washington Redskins this year, no , absolutley not. However, is he a guy that goes out there and loses them games that they should have won, no, he doesnt. Thats just my opinion. Once again to reinterate, that statment dosent affiliate me with that man, his team, that state or any of the bordering areas of Dallas, TX. lifetimeskin 05-20-2004, 11:59 AM How about coaches??? Over rated coaches- - - Mike Martz - Dennis Green - Tom Coughlin - Brian Billick - Mike Holmgren Under rated coaches - John Fox - Herman Edwards - Marvin Lewis - Tony Dungy Your thoughts????? Defensewins 05-20-2004, 12:17 PM Underrated: QB Tom Brady Despite winning 2 of the last 3 SB's, he still will not be listed as one of the best current QB's, because he does have a cannon arm and is not 6'-5" and 240 pounds. Carolina Panthers-despite making it to SB, they wil be over looked by most prognosticators. OVER-RATED: Indy Colts and KC Chiefs - The press, experts and fantasy footballers love offense and these two teams have great offenses. But their defenses are not very good. In the Colts case, they will actually be worse this year with the FA defections to their defense and not very good replacements. |
